After a long and hard process of thinking and what not. It has occurred to me that I might as well create my own religion. Well not so much a religion but a "Holy Book" instead. I am considering on using various philosophical concepts and deifying them as characters in a relatively brilliant way. I like writing and I guess this is how I put my love of philosophy to use.

Tell me is this a good idea? Do you think anybody will die from this new cult of mine? I hope not . . . . unless it is William Lane Craig . . . *cough cough* Wink

Be sure to make up ridiculous rules and then rub your religious freedom in the christers' faces when they object to enforcing them!
Otherwise what's the point of making a new religion?

You will have to outdo the Mormons, Scientologists, and Moonies in the modern insane nonsense sweepstakes to have any chance of it catching on. The bar is already set pretty high. And then you'll need a business plan with detailed marketing strategies -- you know, for "spiritual outreach".

People who follow religion tend to want absolute rules so any idea that you create will eventually be twisted in a way to hurt others. For example, Wicca has a very fair rule that you can do anything as long as you don't hurt others. I once read on a pagan forum that someone was upset because they realized all the ways that they might hurt someone accidentally. They were overthinking that particular rule.

You might want to define marriage in your religion as being a union between a hedgehog and a desk lamp. Then you can tell everyone else they have to live by that definition too, or else they're oppressing you.
