Explain your avatar

RE: Explain your avatar
Mine is exactly what I look like, except:

-The avatar has a beard, I've just got a 'tache.

-I wear my hair in a braid, not loose.

-I have an eye patch, the avatar doesn't.

-I never wear plaid.

-My hair colour and facial features are significantly different from those of the avatar.

Other than that, it's like looking in a mirror.

(Real reason: I did my bachelor's thesis on Celtic warrior cultures from the 5th through the 9th centuries.  The avatar is a general representation of an Irish charioteer of that period).

Mine is obviously a fantastical version of a yellow warning sign of the type commonly found on U.S. roads. I found a set of 19 of these somewhere and switch between some of them for reasons that elude me.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

RE: Explain your avatar
Mine is thematically linked to my username. It's the cover of Parke Godwin's "The Snake Oil Wars" (hence SnakeOilWarrior) sequel to "Waiting for the Galactic Bus" (and GalcticBusDriver). These books are not what made me an atheist, but what made me realize it's ok to be an atheist.

The thing that appeals to me about it, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you can use one color and get multiple shades out of it, which is much more in line with what I'm good at; drawing/sketching/shading/highlighting, and more importantly, steers clear of what I'm horrible at; mixing colors. I can't paint worth a shit when it comes to getting the colors right. I have the strokes down, but the damn colors.

Well more water equals lighter color and less means darker.   But a shade is a technical term meaning a hue to which gray or a compliment or almost compliment has been added.  It's not just darker but muddier. For that you need another color.  But maybe we shouldn't derail this thread talking about paint.

If you want to talk paint (and who in their right mind wouldn't), let's move the conversation elsewhere.

Oh, no, feel free to derail, it's an interesting conversation.

A group called The Order? I think they were created just for the 50 States Initiative, so thats kinda bogus.

They look tougher than Howard though. And the team has a name.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

I chose him because I love video games, especially violent ones. He represents the loopy maniac inside me that loves harmless fun.

I KNEW he looked familiar!! From Platinum Studios as well if I recall, also responsible for Infinite Space, my most treasured DS game and one of my all-time faves Big Grin
