You can't have a position where people are given tasers, handcuffs, batons, pepper spray, and guns, and think you won't attract sociopaths to that job. It's delusional to think it won't happen. What's worse, police unions protect the worst abusers, and have most DA's, judges, and politicians in their back pockets, making it nearly impossible to hold them accountable for any abuse. Then you've got conservatives insisting that there be no police accountability - otherwise we are 'hamstringing' them. So assholes, maniacs, fruitcakes, racists, sex predators, and sociopaths are now attracted to police work; since they know they can commit crimes under the banner of being a police officer, and there will be zero consequences should they be caught red handed in the act of a crime and/or abuse.

That's the real problem.

It's the same in Ireland (apart from as the majority of guards don't yet carry guns, they're not as trigger happy {though again the emergency response units are trained in firearms by the FBI}). A garda sergeant who blew the whistle on mass corruption had a false allegation that he molested a six year old girl appended to his record by Tusla (the state child protection body) because of "clerical error", more likely as a culmination of years of official abhse at him for doing the right thing. The whole affair is a major scandal.

NYPD investigates sergeant who used Taser on pregnant 17-year-old in the Bronx

A disturbing video captured an NYPD sergeant using a stun gun on a pregnant 17-year-old girl in the Bronx — and now the use of force is the subject of an Internal Affairs Investigation.

“Get off of me, get off of me!” Dailene Rosario yelled around 10 p.m. Friday as cops grabbed her in the hallway outside her apartment. “I’m pregnant! I’m pregnant!”

Cops were called to the Wakefield apartment on an unrelated call reporting someone having an asthma attack. Patrol officers assigned to the 47th Precinct came across a fight on the fourth floor involving two men. There were about 15 onlookers.

Yeah, there's no fun in an asthma attack.  Better to terrorize the whole building which seems to be what they think their fucking job is.

‘I can’t breathe!’: Video reveals Ohio cops pepper spraying man while he’s strapped in chair

The Post notes that Wade this week filed a lawsuit against the Montgomery County sheriff’s department with the U.S. District Court in Ohio, in which he alleges the officers employed excessive force during their attempts to restrain him.
The Montgomery County Jail is the same jail that drew heavy criticism for similarly pepper spraying a white woman named Amber Swink, who was sprayed even after being restrained with a seven-point harness.
Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer at the time said that it was wrong to pepper spray Swink while she was restrained, but he called it an isolated incident. Wade’s attorney, Douglas Brannon, tells the Post that this new footage shows such incidents are much more common than what the department has let on.

So, without any further clarification as to whether or not..in your mentioned experience, anyone was ever sodomized in your bar fights......is it fair to say that your defense, in this case...amounts to "tripped, fell, landed on his dick  baton"?

I've been in my fair share of scuffles, but never ever did I come anywhere near anus, let alone penetrate it by accident. I wouldn't even know how with a blunt instrument. Unless, as I said, the guys would already be sans pantalons. Which is quite an image to behold in itself.

I love GS's made up scenario here. For starters, let's look at this realistically. I couldn't bring myself to click on the link, however, if the guy was in the custody of police, naked, there's no logical reason to believe that this wasn't done on purpose. . If he was already naked, that means they already searched him for weapons and took every available piece of clothing away. If he wasn't with any other prisoners, then it was literally him against the cops. If he is literally defenseless, how the hell was this any kind of an accident? It's not. It was done on purpose, to a defenseless person, with no weapons and no way to protect himself. What's worse is the fact that I'm pretty damn sure there was more than one cop present and that the other "participants" subdued the guy by force. I shudder to think about the possibility of him being handcuffed while this went on. 

The fact that you, GS, are willing to buy the excuse of it being an accident and side with the cops in this situation makes me ill. There is just no scenario out there, that would ever justify what has happened to that defenseless young man. You thinking this was okay to be labeled as an "accident" just further proves what a spineless, dickless asshole you are.

New Mexico Couple Awarded $1.6 Million in Police Abuse Case

Las Cruces police officer Isaiah Baker then turned to a female officer and bragged about his deeds, telling her that Jillian Beck “got thrown” and ended up with a “face full of rocks.”
“Cool,” the female officer responded, according to an audio clip that was heard during a civil trial last week.
After a five-day trial and three-hour deliberation, a jury awarded the couple $1.6 million.
