Strict gun control in france.

My personal opinion, is that the gun control "debate" is little more than a political lever which can be used to achieve a given politicians ends.  He knows that he can rely on a vote x.....and that gives him the opportunity for riders.  A way that well meaning people are manipulated into supporting legislation wich will not achieve the end they wish to see realized.

yeah or you know we could go back to muskets and six shooters

I have a musket-ish (heavily modified), it's awesome. It is, easily and without a doubt, the most lethal firearm I own. It fires an armor piercing 49cal rifled sabot round......or rocks.....depending on my mood.  It's capable of engaging the crew of an armored vehicle no sweat...something that my assault rifle cannot do, nor can any of my hunting rifles.

Not much for pistols, personally.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You know what I wish. I wish all the people who on this thread are saying reasonable things like 'gun laws don't prevent all shootings' or 'the overall crime rate is what we really need to look at' would say that after mass shootings in the US. Instead it's mostly just crappy emotional arguments and threads every time.

How come America's lack of gun control didn't prevent 9-11?

You do realize they were on a plane right? No place on the planet with stricter gun control than that.

It's a pretty ignorant "thing" as well, Dyre.  Imagining the least effective operating parameters for a given weapon as an argument against -other- weapons is absurd.  Let me tell you what you can do with a musket, that you cannot do with an AR-15.  You can kill the driver and gunner of a Bradley IFV.......you can stand off an -actual- piece of military hardware with a weapon that is supposed to be -less- dangerous than the others.    Had "Ed" there, wanted to inflict mass casualties in the office, the granex powder he would need to fire could simply be thrown into the room in it's standard 5lb packaging. When police responded..with an armored vehicle, he would be better positioned to cause further damage and casualties than he would be if he was armed with an AK.

I -also- think we need better gun laws, and stricter enforcement of existing laws...which is why I get so frustrated by the manner in which we are currently pursuing it. Makes sense, right?

It's easier than examining the root causes of violence.

I was looking to find this earlier, to scare some folks with, lol.  This, is a modern muzzle loader.

So the next time someone treats you like an idiot, with an ad like "Ed" above.......get offended, they think you're dim enough to form your opinion of our modern problem on antique firearms.
