Regarding America being an admirable country. I think that was more or less true between 1933 and 1965, and briefly between 1990-circa 1994. Other times, not so much.
I'm no patriot. It's a fucking coincidence I was born in the UK.
There are many things I like about the UK, and many things I dislike about the UK. Neither category has fuck all to do with me, I was just born here.
I love my homeland, which is different from my country.

I'm totally a patriot. Yay go Germany, greatest country ever!1! Oh wait, turns out I'm not
 I clearly grew up with some attitudes and ideals which are typical for this country, I can see that it is great in many respects and I want it to succeed, but in many respects I think it sucks and feel like I might belong somewhere else . Does that make me a patriot? @Thumpalumpacus Good point. Having lived in different parts of Germany, I realize that I love my home turf and many of its people , but absolutely cannot grog the mentality in some other parts of it.
