When relying upon the word, does one resort to reality?

Or rather, does one rely upon the word in deference to a religious system that has never provided a shred of evidence during its entire history of existence?

I like your analogy. But I never use words like "faith" or "respect" for that matter. I say "value" and I do value our species ability to ditch old and bad claims, we certainly have done it and can do it more. But I don't have blind faith in my species, I only know we are capable of progress IF we chose.
