Can a slug be God?

RE: Can a slug be God?
The odds are about the same for your average garden slug being god as they are for the Yahweh/Jesus/??? trifecta.

Is it defined by its qualities? Or by its achievements? Its status? What?

Consider this scenario. A long time ago, all that existed was a slug. That's it, a slug. Nothing predates the slug.

Suddenly, the slug creates all of the rest of reality around it somehow. Maybe this was deliberate, maybe it did it by accident. Now it exists alongside everything else. Along with this creation came the rules regarding harm and death, which previously did not apply. The slug lives out its days, then dies. Fast forward several billion years, and we have the present day.

So my question is this: would this slug be a god? If not, why not, and what else would make it into one?

It's irrelevant how the slug did this, or if it's possible, since these are never considerations when gods are discussed.

If slugs decided they needed a god it would be slug shaped. Big Grin

A slug god would be..at least a little bit, terrifying.  Some slugs are actually colonies of organisms......alien pieces of shit. Allah hu akbar, pass the salt.

I suppose if a god were real, it could take on whatever form it wishes to take.

Thanks for the answers guys!

Hmm, no theist responses. I'll choose to take that as a good sign, that I've provoked a little thought.

Seriously though, I hope someone does answer. I want a fucking clue as to what it is these people think they are talking to all the time. Let's establish a baseline. Doesn't it worry them, just a bit, that they can't even describe it?

Rob, stop putting yourself down. You're nowhere near a slug!

My answer is yes, a slug can be god. What do you think a slug offers as an after life? Heaven slimy, hell salty?

To the theist, they will tell you the answer is "evident".
He supposedly made us in his image, therefore he must look like man.

I don't buy it one bit.

RE: Can a slug be God?
My understanding from most Christians I hear from, both here on the forums and in real life, is that each person develops a personal relationship with, and therefore an individual under standing of, god. I think a lot of other religions, like Hinduism, would say the same.

So if one Christian can say their god is loving and does not endorse slavery, while another says he is vengeful, and did endorse it in the past as long as certain rules were followed, why can't a third say god is like a slug? The 3 versions have about as much in common. All are equally personal and equally absurd.
