What?! And give up cheap salvation? No way. Back away from the guy on the cross. I'm taking out anyone who tries to help him.

Jesus didn't need saving. It was his choice to go to the cross.  He could have decided at any time to call down legions of angels to turn the roman army into red mist in half a second. Or he could have done it himself. I know most of you don't believe the story, but if we are talking about going back in time to a supposed non existent event lets at least represent the story as it actually was    Big Grin
Islam has killed millions in the last decade, lets focus all attention on Christianity!

If Jesus had been saved from the cross, there would be no Christianity.

Christianity hinges on the death of Jesus.

Thomas Kelly252525,

Impossible. People don't live that long...

Maybe 252525 represents hours so he's 28+, almost 29.

Hi Thomas,

I don't mean to sound arrogant, so let me explain that I have studied the arguments for the existence of God, as well as the Bible itself. I have seen hundreds of debates and discussions. Every apologetic argument I have every heard has been debunked, and I am happy to back that up if there are any you think still stand?

I am also of the opinion that standard apologetic arguments are rarely the real reason people hold on to their religious convictions and I would welcome your opinion on my recent post where I explain what I mean by this: http://atheistforums.org/thread-43581.html

I am not familiar with Clementine Homilies, but having read the Bible I can say that it is full of evil and immoral preachments that can't just be rationalised away. Jesus said that "not one jot or tittle of the law can change until all has come to pass" and "He who does not uphold the law shall be considered least in the kingdom of heaven" - so all the old testament stuff sticks. And the the old testament is so full of barbarism that I can hardly think where to start, for example, God directly instructing genocide, child sacrifice and slavery for which I can give you chapter and verse, and wiping out most of the world's population in a flood, killing all the firstborn of Egypt... the God of the Bible puts Hitler and Saddam Hussein to shame.

Veritas Vincit,

I appreciate the work you've done.

Thinking about the Clementine Homilies and from it thoughts of false things said about God put in The Bible, deliberately with malice to mislead people and you may compare that to saying having read The Bible I can say that it is full of evil.

Because of many other things happening in my personal life I only gave your "recent post" which you lead me to by internet link, a quick look, you appeared to be a smart person with the ability to become even smarter.

Some more of my thoughts about that "recent post", do you want to begin to learn my thoughts by going to the thread I started in the Christianity part of Atheist Forums called "1 John 4:1 compared to The No True Scotsman Fallacy and sophisms" ?

Ok so I had a look -

Logic is a conceptual framework which is demonstrable valid. It gets to the very heart of how we can know anything, and arguably the logical absolutes are the closest thing to absolute truth we have. It is a valuable tool.

The No True Scotsman fallacy is a real thing, but it depends on the context and the particular argument being made as to whether it fits this category.

The Bible is full of evil. It is not exclusively evil, there are many passages that are not evil, some that are good. But there are many that are evil. God instructing slavery is evil. God instructing genocide is evil. God mass murdering most of the human race and most of the animal life on earth is evil. God asking Abraham to 'sacrifice' - which is to say, MURDER - his son is evil. And Abraham agreeing to do this without a second thought is about the most disgustingly, abjectly evil thing I have ever heard of.

Still no answers. I wonder how many pages we can go without a simple yes/no?

Veritas Vincit,

About The Bible is full evil, do you think someone may have deliberately put the evil parts in The Bible to corrupt it and mislead people ?

About my thread which you say you looked at, did you compare it to thinking that everyone who tells you they are a Christian is really a Christian ?

Of course. The primitive, ignorant and cynical motherf*ckers, who wrote the damn bible, in order to exploit stupid people. You know - those c*nts. Duh!
