Agreed LFC, and it only makes a victim assistance counselor's job even harder to convince the woman to step up. It puts using the argument that they can help save other women, out to pasture because, well, what's the point if a judge is going to let the rapist go anyway?

Exactly.  It's like saying, "yes, it will be painful and drawn out, and you'll feel like your being violated all over again, BUT in the end there will be JUSTICE."  Except instead of justice, it's just a victim being degraded and dehumanized a SECOND time, and a rapist getting to go on with his life like nothing ever happened.  Not worth it.

WTF man. If that was a black guy in the ghetto with the same victim, he's be doing 15 years. I hope that the publicity of this case make's that spoiled little prick's life unlivable.

A former high school football who was wrongfully accused of rape and sentenced to six years in prison now wants the State of California to pay him for every day he had spent behind bars.
Attorneys representing 26-year-old Brian Banks said their client is entitled to $100 a day for every day of his incarceration under state law.
Banks was exonerated this week after his accuser, Wanetta Gibson, admitted she had made up the whole story of sexual assault ten years ago and had been reluctant to come forward because of a large settlement she received from the school district.
