On another note, I'ma use the word "mondegreen" at the cocktail party on Friday.

Interesting story behind it: it comes from essayist Sylvia Wright. As a kid, her mother read aloud one of her favourite poems, "The Bonny Earl O'Moray."

It had this opening stanza:

Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,Oh, where hae ye been?They hae slain the Earl o' Moray,And Laid Him on the Green,

She thought the italicised passage was Lady Mondegreen, and was royally disappointed when she learned the real lyrics, enough that she wrote this essay and decided there needed to be a term for this sort of thing.
