This is one of the things that really disgusts me about Theism.  It causes people to trust in a god who just isn't there.  When the help that they prayed for doesn't come, they can't reconcile in their own minds why their god has deserted them.  I've seen the anxiety and mental anguish this causes in my my own family.

Congratulations on making it out and welcome to the forums. I wonder what part the unescapable cognitive dissonance of fundy religion contributed to your mental health issues? Regardless now that you're out you can treat your condition as you would any other without wondering how you may have offended god or any of that nonsense. Happy for you.
