Why aren't the Indians more grateful?

I understand the importance of the knowledge of history.  I don't understand the need for our particular society in particular to accept the wrongs they have done in the past.  I don't even accept that my ansestors came from one unified society.  My ansestors come from different societies and countries that pretty much fucked each other over.  Russia as a country wasn't too friendly with Poland at the time.  England doesn't have a very good history with Ireland or Spain.

So when you say our society and our wrong doings I don't know about what my ansestors did or what their societies did.

I accept that I'm born in England and for a while England was sailing around the world kicking the shit out of everyone like Russel Crowe and his tug boat.  Now it seems to be America's turn.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Yes, I'm well aware that you don't understand. Your post record is pretty clear on that. Don't understand or not willing to understand doesn't make a hell of a difference. As I said, it's a futile attempt with certain people.

Alrighty them.

Trolling bullshit is one thing...

But, if you're serious then you're calling the progressive slaughter of around a hundred million people across the Americas "a little roughed up". You're calling the rape and genocide of entire peoples "a little roughed up". You're calling the ruining of the way of life, the systematic stealing of their land, and forced resettlement onto reservations "a little roughed up".

Did you know that the Native Americans were among the first victims in history of biological warfare? After all, what else would you call it when European settlers gave them blanket infected with smallpox?

The trail of tears? What else can that be called other than a death march?

They didn't build cities? What do you call some of the remarkable cities spread around South and Central America? Or those to be found in the Southern US?

And even if many tribes lived a nomadic lifestyle over thousands of years, who are you to judge them? Their lifestyle suited them otherwise they wouldn't have lived that way for so long (and don't you DARE state that they lived that way because they were somehow inferior to Europeans).

And European civilization? Several thousand years of near continual warfare, genocide, atrocities and greed.

So, to quote Orochi, above: Fuck You!

European civilization likely wouldn't exist as we know it if we hadn't gotten the package of crops from the middle east that was the foundation of european agriculture.

Let's not forget that while Europe wallowed in the dark ages, Middle Eastern culture was the booming centre of science and other human knowledge.  It was the Islamic scholars who kept alive the writings of the Greeks, while in Europe such things were seen as heretical.  Hell, one of the most important ancient writings rediscovered in recent history was a workbook of Archimedes that had been turned into a Christian prayer book.

It's just something of a shame that the Middle East has gone the way Europe was 500 years ago.

Which came from the Roman colony of Egypt, mostly. It's more important to look at countries like India or China, which had independent trade with the Roman Empire. Independent, not occupied, not forced into the Opium trade.

? From Mesopotamia via Colchis to Thesaly in Greece surely. Long before the founding of Rome.

If this is a thread why isn't there a thread with the question of "Why aren't black's more grateful?" because they're both equally moronic, this really is a pointless thread based on a pathetic ideology.

I do wonder whom exactly you think was 'forced' into the opium trade?
Legal opium was (and is) produced at the EIC factory in Patna, this was sold at auction in Calcutta from the middle of December.
Independent traders shipped the opium on the monsoon to the Dutch port of Batavia who bought it at 500 Rix Dollars per chest.
In addition there were 3 illegal sources of opium; Benares, Rungpore and Boggulpore, the Dutch would not accept these, though the traders might attempt to smuggle the chests into the Dutch East Indies.
If the attempt to smuggle failed the opium would be carried upto Canton where it would be bought by Imperial Ming agents called 'Hongs'.
Disputes arose due to the fact that the governor of Canton embezzled the duties undercasting the turnover for Peking which ultimately resulted in his execution and the replacement of the Hong agents.
