Islam, a growing threat to the free world?

Very much so. Look at what happened to the USSR. I think there should be a balance...
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

You dont hate God, you hate the church game.

Then you are ignoring an enormous amount of this thing we humans call 'life' and don't even know it. I wonder what words you think I'm talking about?

I did overlook entire phylums of life. I am too centered on vertabrates with cerebral cortex.. Mia Copa. Are there some more interesting words inscribed on unicellular life? Big Grin

Nice way to selectively read my post. I wrote it in that post you chopped up, and then again in another post, how God communicates. Not listening very well today, are we?

Are you talking about this platitude of an answer:

Quote:There is a more effective way in which God communicats with us; it's called life.

Seriously? "Life" is how "God" communicates with us? This makes no sense at all. How is "life" a way of communicating with us?

I always find it amusing when believers want to tell me that the most brilliant being in existence chooses to "communicate" with us in ways that are vague and confusing. Yet, I can type out a message here that is clear, concise and easily understood by anyone.

Quote:Oh, and has your atheism succeeded in planting even iota of doubt in our brother's mind about his and 'his brood's' beliefs?

We've never had a discussion involving religion. I'm sure they wouldn't want to start one because they wouldn't want their kids to hear what I might say. They always praise "Jesus" before eating and I ignore the blessing while I butter my bread. Once, one of the kids pointed out that I didn't pray with everyone else. The mother just shushed him and told him to eat.

And anyway, what is your point here? That believers are hard to deprogram? No kidding. When you're raised to believe something it's hard to admit you (and probably your parents) were wrong. Try convincing a devout Muslim that his beliefs are wrong. Does this mean we should all live under Sharia law?

Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Thor, how do you perceive and comprehend things? Last time I checked, my way of perceiving and comprehending was through my five senses; sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste. These are all components of experiencing human life, and are the most effective way to communicate anything to us; by appealing to one or more of the five senses. That is how 'life' is the message. Derp derp.

And my point is that, if atheism is such a grand enlightenment for you, why are you not more willing to share it with your brother? If it is something that would benefit him, why not share it? It may anger, insult, or hurt him, but in the long run wouldn't he thank you? If he accepted atheism and it turned out to be as beneficial as you claim it to be?

Quote:I turn to God(specifically in 2009 after a brief stint with atheism) for answers as to why the universe came to be, and why the things that occur within it occur.

Bad place to look for answers. I imagine he "tells" you what you want to hear inasmuch as all the thoughts are yours.

When have I ever said anything remotely hateful?
Your quote...

Quote:Christianity is like a rabid dog that has been caged and muzzled.

I'll be happy when both "rabid dogs" ...are not only caged but put down.
I'd say that's remotely hateful. Do you hate Christians?

Quote:All religions that preach a holy struggle against an imaginary devil, that imagine a horrifying "Hell" to save souls for all eternity from, are inherently dangerous.
Bull. Devil or no devil, hell, or no hell, people are inherently dangerous for a variety of motives. You have strong obssesive passions against Christians. Does that make you dangerous DP?

Without putting words in Thor's mouth, I'd guess it's because he'd rather his brother learns and thinks things out for himself? Thats how I came to the conclusion I was an Atheist, and im sure it's the same for a lot of people. I know religion works via being told what to think, but I think the key principle of Atheism involves free thinking. I have a younger Brother ( 12 years old) I have spoken with him about religion and he's not sure what he believes, I'm sure as fuck not going to tell him what to think. He knows my stance but all I've said to him is think things for himself and in the end it dosen't matter what he wants to think, it's his life.
