My Top 5 Pet Peeves
#21
RE: My Top 5 Pet Peeves
1. Miscasting in films, e.g., RDJ as Sherlock Holmes.

2. People who, when I tell them I don't care for a particular dish, invariably say, 'That's because you've never had it the way I make it.'

3. People who think that their uninformed opinions merit the same consideration as the opinions of experts.

4. The waiter who comes to the table to ask me if there will be anything else when I've just taken a mouthful of food.

5. The phrase 'A good cigar'. There ain't no such animal.

Oh my sister  is worse.
She is principly against buying a car, because she says she doesn't want to rely on it. She feels, I think, that is the environmentally ethical thing to do. And if that was where it ended; fine. But then don't call me every time you need something from Ikea or when a family-party turned out late and you don't feel like biking back to your appartement or you need to get to a flee market 4 towns over at the crack of dawn.

I mean... some people respond that I'm making a false comparison because you HAVE to buy a car.

My response is... no you fucking don't. I don't have one. I can't even afford one. It's possible to live without one.

Driving a car just makes life a hell of a lot easier to get by. And if you actually love eating meat: so does eating meat. Eating meat helps me get through the fucking day: And without bacon I'd probably kill myself!

Okay I'm exaggerating a LITTLE bit but yeah I think the analogy stands, because both driving cars and eating meat are things people want to do and things that make a person's life easier... they aren't things you have to do.

Hell, there's no such thing as anything you HAVE to do (besides what you're already in the process of being motivated to do. Although you may stop being motivated if you stop being motivated)... you can starve yourself to death if you want to.

So yeah.

There is no exaggerating when it comes to bacon.

And I understand. I went a long time without a car as well. Couldn't afford one. I had my father and GF drive me around (until we bought one together) when absolutely necessary.
But I wasn't against owning a car out of ethical principles and THEN asked for people to drive me around whenever the slightest inconvenience came my way. If she'd just say she couldn't afford one or that living in the center of the city having one is too unpractical: that would be fine. But she sometimes talks as if not having one is superior to having one, yet still makes use of one whenever it suits her needs.

Sorry if it seems like I'm talking 'next' to you. It just feels good to rant.

No problem I did the same. I responded to your post to continue what I was saying rather than respond directly to what you said, and the reason why I quoted you was because I wanted you to hear it. It's like we're having a one on one convo on open forum lol.

Wow! Richard David James was cast as Sherlock Holmes?

Well YES I would say that that's a miscasting! He's not even an actor! He's a techno musican!

He makes some good sounds though:

People who interupt.

People who make repetitive obvious mistakes.

In general very obese people. Not all the time but pretty much all the very obese people I know personally.

People who ask/tell you to do something even though you're obviously about to do that thing or you're already doing it.

Laziness.

I could have a whole other list involving driving pet peeves.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

You mean that one that's soon to mysteriously get four punctured tyres?

It might, if the douchebag wasn't seated in it.

People who don't respect my privacy. That would be my biggest one.

Passive Aggressive

Self Righteousness, you know those that say something along the lines of " hey i give to the poor and i have less money than you. So there is no reason why you shouldn't." I hate people like that.

People who twist my words around or put words in my mouth.

Optimism to the point where it becomes fake and unrealistic. You know, those who are too afraid to encounter anything negative so they sugar coat everything with a fake smile and peachy, positive persona.
