It's a pity you don't understand the wiki link you quoted.

The water level goes down!

So if I sink in to the baht tub , the water level goes down.

When the cannon ball is in the boat, it displaces its weight.
When the cannon ball is in the lake, it displaces its volume.

Correct. A ship will displace a mass of water equal to its weight and has fuck all#2 to do with its shape.

The shape of the object displacing the liquid also is a determining factor for floating.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Yeah , i didn't take in consideration that while in the boat , her mass displaced more volume because of the size of the ship.

But with this problem you have answered your question , that shape does matter.

When the cannon ball is in the boat, it’s mass contributes to the weight and overall density of the boat. So long as the overall density of the boat is less than that of water, the boat overall will displace an amount of water equal in weight of the boat and the cannon ball.

When you pitch the cannon ball over the side, the mass of the cannon ball no longer co tribute to the weight and overall density of the boat. The boat floats higher and displaces less water by an amount equal in weight to the weight of the cannon ball. But the cannon ball, being denser than water, only displaces as much water as its own volume, which is much less than the the amount of water that would equal the weight of the cannon ball.

Hence the total mount of water displaced by the floating boat and sinking cannon ball separately is less than the water displaced by the two if the cannon ball remained in the bot.

A ship that sinks under its own weight isn't a ship, its a piece of shit.

It’s not shape, it’s volume, which is a combination of both dimension and shape.

Take a normally bouyant ship, keep its mass and shape exactly the same, but reduce its dimension by 50%, and it will sink faster than the land of the free under Donald Trump.

Unless it is designed to serve a purpose by sinking.

But what you don't seem to get is that the water level went down because it displaced more water when on the boat , so when throwed in to the water displaced less volume then when it was on the boat. That is why the water level went down not up.

I should have specified that size is a factor too , my bad .

I think Succubus doesn't want to admit that he was wrong.

I'm beginning to suspect this youthful naivety you display is an act.
