Right. There wasn't a 'banned' list of words, but there were certain terms that they were encouraged not to use, or find alternatives for, if they wanted a chance of getting support/funding from Congress. Still distressing that a scientific organization would have to use certain words to not make lawmakers feel icky or confused, but better than a ban.

Self-censorship is still censorship.
That's what I mean - it's crazy that they have to tailor their budget proposals around certain buzzwords like 'transgender' and 'evidence-based' that apparently trigger the GOP members of Congress.

Yeah, totally not fascism or anything like that. This is just crazy. What's next? "All scientific claims must start with "God"?" Republicans will quietly gloss over this, acting like this is totally normal.
