Trump and the One Percent...

RE: Trump and the One Percent...
The one thing that comes to mind when I think of "Trump and the One Percent" is that Trump is part of the One Percent. The greatest trick he pulled on his own demographic is that he's "for the working man." Yea, the guy who has kicked working people out of their homes to build more expensive housing is "for the working man." What a joke.

Yeah, no shit. He's literally everything wrong with the obscenely wealthy written large in one package with all the worst parts of an orangutan and a wrestling heel. Except he's even worse than most of them because, while most billionaires at least make some effort to give back to the community (which may not actually mean much in the long run), but Trump doesn't really do that, with the possible exception of the Trump Foundation, but that barely even counts as a charity.

Also, just so we're clear, when I wrote that title, while I did have the popular connotations of the One Percent in mind, I was specifically talking about the fact that one year, according to recently leaked tax returns, his losses were so large they accounted for one percent of the entire amount of business losses sustained in America that year. Yeah, he fucks up that bad.

It's kind of wordplay, but I'm not sure exactly what kind. An allusion, certainly, but that doesn't cover it. Possibly a pun.

Not that Hillary would've been a better representative for the working man. But Trump? It's a joke.

I'm aware, but this is always what I think of when I hear anything about Trump and the one percent. But yea, that's an interesting fact.

Given that the closest thing Trump had to a selling factor (besides legitimising open bigotry) was his apparent business success, the fact that he's been known to fuck up so badly that he personally is responsible for one percent of an entire country's business losses for a certain year is pretty interesting. No wonder he hemmed and hawed about releasing those tax returns.
