The Moral Obligation to Choose the Lesser Evil
#31
RE: The Moral Obligation to Choose the Lesser Evil
Those who choose NOT to vote, should never be allowed to bitch about the actions of who won.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

So, if there was a dumpster fire and I walked away from it I'm more to blame that another person who adds fuel to that fire?

I'm voting for Biden by the way, because he has some good policies. That being said, participating in the voting process is by no means more virtuous than abstaining depending on why you are choosing one action over the other.

Saint Carlin cleared that up years ago.  The only people responsible for what political candidates do, are people who vote.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Argument from Carlin?

Which is why I still think it would be a good idea if we all agreed together and simply did not vote at all.

What would our government do then?

Peace be upon him, and all that.

The constant gripe of committed dems that it's someone else's fault that their candidate failed to inspire or win is hot garbage. Want more votes, go out and get em. You don't need them to win, getting more votes won't mean that you will win, and that's not why you've been losing in the first place.

You're losing because you've reduced yourselves to the moderate wing of american fascism for fear of upsetting the deplorables. You lose even when you take office.

Whatever they want with no fear of losing reelection no matter what they do is my impression.

When I was a libertarian I would sometimes remark how there's not a dime's worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats didn't do anything to change my mind, but the Republicans sure did.

The same things they do now, that's the farce.

It's not whether we do or don't vote, but whether we've created a system in which our votes matter, and our votes surround things that might actually do what we hope to achieve by voting for them. I think that we've gone with theater instead, as is our habit.

Mitch already does whatever he wants without fear of losing an election. How many right wing politicians seem concerned about their seats? Do they act like people concerned? Losing to you..or to an even nuttier even righter creature?

Then what we really need is a revolution against the government, make them change. Unfortunately, I see myself moving out of the country before people here give a fuck.

And me moving out of the no-more-good ole' US of A is not an empty threat at this point. I see this country going sideways in a manner that I don't want to be around to encounter.
