I’m not sure that a god who creates adversity, affliction, calamity, displeasure, distress, grief, harm, hurt, mischief, sorrow, misery, trouble, wretchedness and wrong really helps your case.

I can see how that is a problem if you think god is all loving/loves everyone equally..  I can see how this would not generally be considered a plus or attribute of God. The truth of the matter is God can be down right vengeful and spiteful. especially to those who do not belong to Him. This is indeed a good example of this. that said the p[assage does not imply god puts evil in the heart of men. But rather is raining evil down on those who oppose his servant Cyrus. If you think this is bad wait till you hear about Moses and pharaoh at the Red Sea crossing.

If God is vengeful and spiteful, am I doing God’s will when I’m being vengeful and spiteful? 

It remains unclear why God would rain down evil on anyone.

A being can Only plausibly acquire the tendency to love, to hate, or behave in any other specific way,  if it is limited in its overall capabilities and must develop specific modes of behavior  to improve its chances of not going extinct.


All powerful god can not have reason to love, or hate.   For that matter, an all powerful god has no reason whatsoever to use its power in any specific way. 

So all powerful god that did this or did that, or that should be worshiped are a self contradicting concepts.

I suppose a natural god might face extinction pressure. I do suspect that narratives about gods collect attributes based on what's necessary to compete in the religious marketplace. I'm not sure that gods are/would be rational, but they could be - plenty have been described that weren't..too.. but they haven't done well in that religious marketplace I have in mind. Ultimately, I think, it's because we find them less satisfying as conceptual partners in an existential negotiation. In the case of theistic gods they pretty much have to be (or at least be rationalizers). That's included it what it means to be a personal and intervening being.

There's really nothing illogical about a being having desires or inclinations or goals...and I'd challenge the claim that a god worthy of worship is self contradicting. It's just that the faithful have mostly failed to come up with one.
