Agreed. It also surprises me how 'different' persons can also be so close-minded. I don't mind when people are polyamorous, or have open relationships, but I;m annoyed by the assumption of some of those people that others in monogamous relationships MUST be unhappy. I like being in a one to one relationship.

Also, yay for gays! It has been allowed for many more years where I live, and I think my country surprised the world by not being absorbed into hell and suffer the seven plagues after gay marriage is allowed Big Grin

When I was a Christian, I was annoyed with dogmatic condescending Christians. Now that I'm an atheist, I'm annoyed with dogmatic condescending atheists. Just goes to prove that people are the same, regardless of what they do or don't believe.

I'm close-minded because you provide me an attribute which I do not have? Sleepy

Marriages are often enough unhappy. I don't know a single happy marriage. I only know a few that are in a happy monogamous relationship. And those probably won't stay so happy when tested over time.

I never would suggest that monogamy necessarily means unhappiness. However, in all of my experience, the longer one is with someone else, the more they dwell on the bad things about them.

Only I'm not a gay person and rights are illusory and I insult everybody (including myself).

Note that this thread is about marriage. Observe:

"If you marry go ahead and be miserable all your life..."

Being married usually means one becomes unhappy, and being polyamorous a marriage would be even more limiting.

It seems like hypocrisy to you... but my position has really been unchanged since my first post in this thread Tongue

I too have fought so that gays will have equal treatment in our country. Congrats to you guys and gals in NY!

I may be straight, but I am NOT narrow.

Gays already have equal treatment in our country. This is special treatment. Before this, in NY, no straights could marry members of the same sex, either.

Well...then I must thank the Gays in New York for giving this straight guy a chance to marry another straight guy. More freedom is better than less Smile

What the hell are you going to thank them for? It does not benefit you one bit. Also, some freedoms are not worth the trouble.
