What IS America?

RE: What IS America?
Because the continent is North America, not America. The USA as a whole is America.

If you want to get technical the continents (south and north) are collectively known as the Americas, not America.

United states of AMERICA

In english, maybe. We still call the continent as a whole "Amerika", because it'd be too awkward to call it in it's plural, "Amerikalar", which makes as much sense as calling Europe "Europes" or Asia "Asias" and etc.

Which is a plutocracy that got rich out of stealing your money.

Our government and most-all of its 'regulatory' functions are in the pocket of corporations. This is a corporate parrot government.

No, plutocrats needs to have one or two arguably virtuous traits.

As to whether the US is a democracy in the sense common used in modern discourse, it is on the relative scale of things.

But When the US was conceived, it was intended to be a participatory republic, but at the time the word democracy carried a distinctly negative meaning that no longer dominate the image conjured up by the same word today. At the time, the word democracy did not refer narrowly to government by high levels of participation. Instead it refers to the excesses that results when this form of government fails.

In other words, "Republic" means government of the people, for the people, by the people. "Democracy" means failed republic where the mob rules.

This negative connotation carried all the way through the 19th century. It was only with engineered propaganda slogans of WWI that the word Democracy was reformed.

Plutocracy requires only wealth. Nothing virtuous about it. Not much of a vice either.

No, traditionally, plutocracy tends not to be purely extractive, but are vested in the relative prosperity of the system that made them wealthy. Plutocracy therefore have produced many a powerful, prosperous, and long lasting states. Indeed all states are plutocratic to a certain extent.

Kleptocracy tends to be purely extractive. No kleptocratic state have ever prospered for more than a generation, and few have ever survived long before coming to no good end.

The subtle and arguably most insidious aspects of rightwing ideology is to ignore the difference between plutocracy and kleptocracy.

I was going to argue (I am an anarchist). But then I tied up my girlfriend. And now she can't walk. And it's all my fault.

This is America: Welcome.

What do you hope to accomplish on your anarchist own?
