I read the rules before I ever posted. I quoted someone, truncated the quote, and indicated that is was only part of a whole. This is something other users seem to be able to do. What should I have done differently?

Read the rule. If you change a quote you have to note that you have made a changed to it. It's not rocket science.

Can anyone explain the rules about quoting, I'm having a hard time understanding them? That is why I think I didn't fit here. I still feel that way, but I'm willing to try again.
