Shinagami, it's not that you're not welcome, it's that you don't get along with this particular group of people. This may be because of your particular experience in life. Maybe you communicate differently with people and got the wrong impressions here.
Give it another try, if you like, but be advised, this forum might seem a bit mild to you if you're the aggressive type of thinker - regardless of your level of intelligence.

Found the thread. That's mild in comparison to what I've seen in my short time here. All our welcome, that's what I like most about this place. My very worldview is contradictory to the title of the site, and have disagreed with many on here but I have never felt unwelcome.
You are quite welcome as far as I'm concerned. This is a forum where debates are heated. The mistake is to take disagreement as dislike. You appear to understand the difference.

I guess I'm curious if "atheist spirituality" is a thing. Not all religions have a god. I was thrown for a loop when I read that Sam Harris practiced some form of zen meditation.  I thought "isn't that Buddhism or something"?
Zen is a system that uses meditation, focus, and thought exercises to learn/integrate a practice or concept into one's brain. Zen Buddhism uses the system of Zen to teach and learn Buddhism, but Zen principles have between integrated into various fields of study and practice (not just of religion).
Basically, Zen is more intellectual than spiritual. It's an approach to making the brain absorb and understand information.

Shin people will call things as they see them and some do it with more respect then others but you cannot control what they say and do. You can however control your reaction to it.

Believe me, when I first started posting here I caught a lot of flak too -- some deserved, some unearnt. Disagreements on a forum where the rules lean to free speech rather than courtesy can get heated. remember, "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind,"
