But you realize people didn't JUST disagree with him, complaints were made to the police about him for expressing personal opinions.

It wouldn't be a problem.
But when one guy says "I believe women belong in the kitchen" and then he gets a police complaint put against him and people discuss taking his boxing awards away that's punishing someone for expressing an opinion, which is policing peoples thoughts and opinions. I mean, he did tell a whole load of people he is basically prejudice against homosexuals, so I guess that might be seen as a hate speech, but that's what you get when you ask someone who's famous who's also a Christian and follows scripture to talk into a microphone

I'm not even taking sides in this argument but I just think it's interesting to watch.

On the one hand you can't talk about oppressing people based on their religions, Donald Trump just tried that.  On the other hand you get a guy who basically says "Hey, I believe homosexuality should be illegal based on what is said in the holy scripture of my religion."

So you can't oppress sexuality or religion but what happens when it's someone's religion to oppress people of a different sexuality?

I haven't seen an opinion poll of a Muslim population who see Homosexuality as morally acceptable being anything over 20%, so I wonder if the same people who are petitioning for against Tyson Fury will be on Donald Trump's side in his latest controversial remarks.

You have to be prejudice against homosexuality or against Abrahamic religions or just rely on the fact that some religious people for some reason irrationally disbelieve in some parts of the books they say they do definitely believe in, or maybe rationally disbelieve in parts of the book they irrationally believe in....

He's doing his best at being a true Christian and following the bible...

There has been a massive backlash to these comments, especially as he has been nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the year award. This typically goes to the most impressive sports performance of the year (despite the personality part of the title). He has been called a "dickhead" live on air by a BBC reporter (this is unheard of), another BBC reported has been suspended for criticising the BBC for including him. The British Boxing Federation has asked him to explain his comments . He has also been reported to the police for his comments. At least one other nominee has threatened to pull out.


What I find interesting is the in the US these sorts of comments probably wouldn't raise an eyebrow, yet over here almost everyone is appalled by them. It is nice to see that these views just aren't acceptable.

They would indeed raise an eyebrow or two. But it's nice to learn that parochialism is not an American monopoly.

As much as I can't stand that twat, he hasn't tried to "oppress" anyone. He has expressed his opinion, and nothing more. He hasn't had a congressman introduce a bill, he hasn't the power to affect policy, and all he is doing is running his mouth in order to garner otes.

I said "You can't talk about oppressing people based on their religions."  I didn't say oppressing I said talking about oppressing.

He's talking about stopping one religion from entering the country.

Whether that is oppression is subjective as to if you think it is unjust treatment towards Muslims or not, from what I understand a lot of people think it is but a lot of people think it isn't.
