Again, GID by it's very name is a mental disorder which again fits the clinical definition of a mental illness. (one that takes treatment to alleviate one way or another.)

Again, homosexuality used to be considered a disorder too.

Not that I expect you to be post-modern or anything Tongue

I'd feel sorry for him if he wasn't so oblivious to his own failings. As it is, it's like feeling sorry for someone in a vegetative state. They're just not aware.

I'm all for LGB, not as much for the T though( in the sense that I don't think it's "natural", so to speak). I think it's a mental disorder. I don't know whether it's particularly harmful for the people suffering from it, though, so I don't know what to say about it.

Any more than the bolded part leading you to that conclusion? Such as actual evaluations by experts?

I can only offer my thoughts, not any definite knowledge on the matter - as per my phrasing. I will offer them gladly, though.

It's like thinking you're a chair instead of a human.

I must admit I have not read very many posts on thread that are not directed at me. What exactly did he say that is sooo horrendous? Is it simply saying that he believes transgenderism is a psychological disorder?

I'm just curious because I've had people here tell me I'm delusional and mentally insane for believing in God. And while I obviously disagree, I didn't feel extremely angry, offended, or like the person who said it is a heinous evil person who I "f*cking hate."

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

While that is an extreme example, I do feel similarly as far as the point goes.

I'm no expert and I could be wrong, but from a common sense type perspective, thinking/feeling like you're something that you physically/biologically are not, does sound like some sort of disorder.

Which in itself is questionable, since these people aren't mentally ill. It's an insult to them and it goes against what serious experts in the fields have found out during the last few decades. Rocket quoted some of it.

Drippy only quoted conversion therapy con artists, which, even by US standards, is now a questionable practice. Even, because the US tolerated it for the longest time in the Western world.

Well if your asking...when he compared transgendered individuals to counterfeit money is when the smoke really started to come out my ears...

You wont understand because you have compartmentalized your belief thinking it really promotes tolerance when it doesn't. Now just like transgendered, gays and lesbians were also called a disorder, but that was scrapped by the psychological and medical community decades ago. Why? Because science adapts to changing data but even with that it still has the chains of social norms in a wider society that often slows down what they really want to say.

The more we know about the brain the more we know we are not the simplistic magical toys that religion tries to paint us out to be. Our bodies as a species and our behaviors are explained by the sciences, not old books.

The "disorder" is actually coming from society telling them they are broken, but they are not broken, just different, like being left handed is different than being right handed, like having blue eyes is different than having brown or green eyes. They suffer because of bigotry and that is the disorder.
