Are you a disciple?

RE: Are you a disciple?
I read The God Delusion a few years ago and enjoyed it. We definitely agree on a lot, but he does seem a bit smug in interviews.

Thinking about the topic, if it had been about Terry Pratchett you could have stuck a fork in me and called me a true disciple of Om.

You're missing out on an entire world of imagination and adventure

It's just, whenever I have time to read, and I need to choose, there's usually some topic waiting that I'm really interested right then which wins against a novel.

I wish I could be interested in reading about things that are actually real. They usually bore me to sleep. I do recommend The Kite Runner and The Testament of Gideon Mack if/when you have time for non fiction again Smile

I am not a disciple of anyone.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

We're all disciples of mother nature.
We do exactly what she programmed us to do!

If mother nature has programmed us then there is no question of being a disciple. A disciple is one who follows not one who is programmed. Is your computer a disciple of you?
