Most overrated game?

Yeah, it's big and flashy.  But FUCK, scaling mobs make the game feel so pointless.  I could literally max out my character by going back to the same areas over and over and over again, and fighting the harder and harder enemies until I had my crystal armor.  There's no sense that the world is anything but a slow reveal of new armor sets.
I have to agree.  It was a step backwards from prior games like Morrowind and Oblivion.  It was gorgeous to look at, but lacked the sandboxy creativity of the previous games.

Which may be dead shortly, given the rampant cheating going on and how much effort it will take Ubisoft to fix it: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/04/an...-problems/

I honestly just could not ever get into a single Final Fantasy game. Metal Gear Solid 3, I guess. Loved the first two, never finished that one. Haven't played any since.

I'm the opposite.  I grew up on Final Fantasy, but I simply don't 'get' the Metal Gear Solid series.  It's just so goofy with atrocious voice acting.

I'm not really a fan of games-as-spectacle anyway.  I'd rather just watch a CG movie than play through a tepid, on-rails, mediocre game that's sandwiched between cutscenes.

Civ 5, huge step back from 3 never mind 4. They managed to bring back every single gameplay problem from 3, like gpt for fixed amount deals and to accomodate 1upt they had to destroy every other mechanic in the game. Effectively they turned a great strategic empire management series into a bad version of Advance Wars. Yet it still scored over 95% everywhere.

Oh and the fully patched final version is a game where you hit end turn until the game gives you something.

I'll nominate the entire Halo series. I don't actively dislike it, but I never understood why it became so popular. Timesplitters came out at the same time and was way better.

I leave for one minute and we're tearing Halo apart? Sheesh! Haha I've been playing it since Halo: CE, and although the story was enough for me, it was the tight competitive game play that kept me coming back. I try not to look too deeply at the story or it all falls apart lol Especially lately. Halo 5 has probably the worst story of any video game I've ever played, but I play it pretty regularly because its also a return to tight precise competitive multiplayer.

Most of the Call of Duty titles after 4: Modern Warfare (maybe one or two after that were ok). That's a franchise that specializes in jumping the shark, and it's almost proud of it.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

Honestly, at this point I sort of feel this way about every military FPS. It's the same old thing. I don't get how everyone is not bored of them by now. My bias is that I've pretty much gotten over vs, multiplayer at this point. It just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

Destiny, to an extent. I put a bunch of time into it but got tired of replaying the same activities so many times. As well as being forced to use the app to find random, half the time unreliable people to do the raids just to fully level. Then year 2 came and while there were some improvements, they recycled half the exotics right back to the players and it still required replaying the same activities too many times for my liking. I just think that such an interesting and thought out universe is sort of squandered on what is an impractical game model for it. While it handles amazingly for an FPS and the first run of all the activities is actually pretty good, wasted potential is all I can think of.

I didn't realize I was tearing the series apart when I said I don't dislike it. I never said they were bad games, I say the series is overrated because I don't understand the monumental popularity the franchise has attained based on its lore and setting. The gameplay is fun, I've enjoyed it myself on many occasion, but I don't know what it is about the setting that warrants such a large, dedicated fanbase, that warrants an expanded universe of novels, comic books, web series, and all other manner of merchandise. I don't see why fans love it as much as they do. I'm not saying that they're bad games, I'm saying they're overrated.

Call of Duty, every game release is literally the same thing just updated and polished. At least Halo has a over arcing Mythology.
