If you read Shakespeare, you'll see quite a lot of dirty language. And he's Shakespeare.

It's pretty clear that a lot of these body-related swear words come from the English Victorian mindset-- shame about the weakness and filth of the human body in a general sense. It makes sense given the dawn of the industrial age and the sense that machines, if well-designed, could be "perfect," along with the budding of biological science, which showed how obvious it was that humans are "just" animals, wallowing in the muck with the rest of them. Not encouraging for a Christian culture that wants to keep believing that man was created in the image of an all-perfect God.

Asians, on the other hand, are OBSESSED with poop. Several Asian countries have poop-related museums, poop-themed restaurants, poop-themed animation children's-show characters, etc. I think that's because they never really went through that Victorian mindset.
