Hasn't the last 8 years demonstrated how impractical this government is when you have one party which simply refuses to work with the other? What do you think would happen when your "outsider" stands up before congress and they all give a collective "fuck you." Your "outsider" will have no base whatsoever in congress. No one who will cover the "outsider's" back. Or are we invoking magic here and thinking that an "outsider" will usher in an era of peace and love?
You may as well pray for fucking god to intervene for all the good that will do!
I don't know US political history ... But what you seem to be describing is one government with two sides to the Party, just named differently?...

You're a Trotskyst? I thought they died out when he showed his true colors at Kronstadt. At least they should have. The Kronstadt rebellion was the only incident of commoners really trying to take over. Trotsky put an end to that. And a brutal one for that matter.
I don't worship Trotsky, certainly. I was a Luxemburgist, but I moved to the Right.

Fuck Congress. I don't worship or obey an entity that stands for hot war, cold war and class war. The problem with the government is the far right lurch it's had for the past four decades.

Third parties standing on a platform outside the main parties platforms, depending on the percentage from the electorate, can change the policies of the main parties stance in the future.
I consider my vote as a way of making my point of view known ... voting tactically doesn't do that in my opinion. In fact it can often send the message that their direction or their candidate is what the public want.
I certainly can't accept that someone voting in accordance with their conscience makes them stupid.

We're not talking about stupidity. We're talking about futility.
Third parties here are impotent.

Until they're not. There are only two major parties in the USA, but they have been replaced by third parties or changed so substantially that they can be regarded as different parties at different points in time. Like how the Party of Lincoln actually used to be the Party of Lincoln, but now it just isn't.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

The way it appears to me is that voting by conscience could eventually make a difference ....
There are three possibilities:
a) My vote will make no difference ... nothing lost or gained but I have been true to myself, I can feel confident, if either of the two main candidates cause a war or enact some inhuman law, as I didn't contribute to their Power.
b) My vote does make a difference ... because others start voting on their conscience .... A big enough vote could change the main parties positions to try to capture our votes.
c) My vote helps break the status quo .... however unlikely, its is more likely if I vote with my conscience and not just as a technical game .
