Another Circumcision thread

If anything, where science seems to agree is that there is no medical reason for urgency. Even if we accept that circumcised penises are easier to clean and are less susceptible to disease, the fact is, before the age of 10 (on average), the foreskin is physically attached to the glans of the penis, so there's no way for bacteria / dirt to get under it. That means that for an average of 10 years, there are no cleanliness benefits for circumcised boys over uncircumcised boys.

I would be ok with getting a black eye from my girlfriend, given the right circumstances and set up. It's all about what both people like and the atmosphere. It can be playful.

When it's not playful however, it's just wrong. I agree. And people should be locked up for it.

All I'm saying is, that's not always the case.

Of course. I agree with the entirety of your post. With me, I feel I cannot do anything like that because it is simply negative, but each to their own I guess.

And personally I don't care if a parent chooses to circumcise their son or not. I only care whether the decision was made with the boy's best interest at heart, whatever it was.

The problem is that it's always made with "the child's best interest at heart". It's always about the child ... never about themselves ...

Preachin to the choir amigo, preachin to the choir.  I don;t actually have any gripes with the mentality on it's merits.  I revel in it, I think it's part of what makes us who we are and part of why we're so damned good at what we do.  Non-conscious divisions of labor.  Social insects do it too, only they do it genetically rather than sociologically (and to be fair we've engaged in a fair bit of warrior caste breeding programs ourselves).  The end effect is that we both produce our rough and tumbles to handle the undesirables.

I don't even want to get rid of the mentality, I just think we'd be better off recognizing that we're doing it, when we do it, lol.  The day that the human race turns into the gaggle of civil creatures that we all imagine ourselves to be is the day that my daughters cruel boot is felt on every neck.  Wink

(and all of my progeny are going to come correct with every ounce, every centimeter, of "dirty" biological apparatus they possess)

Is there any possible way I can actually reply to this....^^^^ ROFLOL

It isn't to mock the post, but a simple acknowledgement that it made me laugh, especially the last two lines because it mirrors my own feelings with regards to my two daughters and how they will be treading on many necks in the future. Coming back to the issue, we just simply have to change the mentality, not through forcing, but through talking.

Ah, but doesn't that assume that we're talkers, rather than forcers...that we're civilized?  I can already see why this plan may fail to achieve it's stated end.   Wink

I mean hell, it's hard to talk someone out of simple indifference regarding foreskin, we're probably not going to be able to talk someone out of chopping off their daughters bit because they believe that it's a concentrated ball of sinful lust. That it's filth and filthy...and gee, doesn't that remind us of something....?

Luckily, it is not that common in the "civilised world", and yet here we are in this very same "civilised world", and we would do exactly that to our own sons.....the irony of it all. The irony of those who have had their sons circumcised to come out with "their savages doing that to their daughters."

So if I think the boy's best interest at heart is to lock him up in a cage and starve him, then you'll agree with me?

No. The comment I made was specifically in reference to circumcision. Not in reference to any possible decision that can be made.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

A special exception, to a special case...that isn't -actually- all that special...but is, actually, mutilation.

-and that's where the blows come in.

Nice little story, and bravo to the mother who stood up for her rights to decide:
