Unfortunately, with religion being so dominant at the moment, and with more and more muslims coming to mainland Europe, this will mean even more acts of MGM than ever. As I said earlier, there needs to be someone out there who can stay stop, this is enough. I have listened to many great debaters (perhaps I have missed a debate) with Dawkins, Tyson, Krauss, Hitchens, Harris amongst many others and very few if any make any approach to this, they do not come out and debate this side of religion. Perhaps if they did (I know, Hitchens passed away a few years ago) and gave it some proper media coverage, then it might just change the way people think and........well, I guess I am talking to you from my ivory tower.....

I thought I was.....But you must be in agreement that this subject should not be a taboo subject. It should be discussed openly. MGM/FGM is wrong, and it needs to be outlawed.

Well, I think it can go away without a law, and man I;d love to see that happen...after all...it's not like it took a law requiring circumcision to make it a thing.....but I'm not holding my breath. The most effective response, practically, is to get the protection of those laws extended to include penis, yes.
Aegon, where you at, btw..you asked me earlier if I thought that it was the same as cutting off a hand. Apparently, it might be the same as cutting them both off. My muppet snuffalupugus don't want none a this.

It is true that things tend to get more gritty in between folds of skin vs if they were exposed to airflow. That's just common sense. But it isn't about being "dirty" or "clean"... it's about what that might mean, healthwise, for the man, or for the woman he is having sex with.
As I said, I don't understand what it is with yall's obsession trying to make this like it's some sort of religious clean vs unclean thing for me.

It's not common sense. It's a rationalization. Cutting a boys penis doesn't do -anything- other than reduce sensitivity. There's no "what it might mean, healthwise" for the man, or for any woman he has sex with. No ones -making it that-...that's what it was, and in the case of fgm -still is-. That's why we do it. That's the origin of the cultural tradition as practiced...except that it;s not practiced, for women, here...it's something that only little boys have to look forward too.

Well that would be a good parallel if they were threatening to remove the best/most sensitive bits. But they're only looking to remove the protective blankey.
But more to your point, no I don't think modern law should respect tribal custom in the area of clit removal. Do you know of any countries that attach the same injunction to circumcision?
