Trigger warning!  That's right, I just issued that psa...so you know what you're about to read is going to be positively detestable, lol.  Wink

There is an uncleanliness, perceived to be very real.  A source of miasma.  Not only does this unclean thing serve no purpose...it restricts a persons social options.  Possession of this thing may be undesirable to a potential spouse.  Further, this thing may endanger them, it may cause them suffering.  The procedure to remove this thing has a long tradition, and wide acceptance in the areas in which it is performed.  However, that tradition is not seen to be the reason that this is done, today, in this country.  Proponents of this procedure can point out that criticism of -that- tradition is only ancillary criticism of -this- tradition.  As the procedure, today, can be done routinely in a surgical setting.  The child is unlikely to remember it, and will be no worse for the wear after having had it done.  It will, further, be like it's peers.  There is no loss of valued function.  The procedure is the removal of a perceivedly small portion of the sex organ, which is known to cause a reduction in sensation.  With this acknowledged, proponents claim that the balance of interest lay in the stated benefits, rather than any loss of sensation....and further, with the compelling interest of the parents of those children which will undergo this procedures freedoms.

This thing, is just a few centimeters, of the very tippy top, of a clitoris. The effect can be achieved with a laser, as on outpatient procedure. It can even be done to adults, though, admittedly it is much more desirable to perform this procedure as soon after delivery as possible. When the offending organ is smaller, and the owner of said organ is either less susceptible to traumas or less likely to form memories of them. Sedation is, ofc, available. Patients who have undergone this procedure will suffer no side effects other than those acknowledged, and will be able to perform all pertinent biological functions. Further, they are seen to derive an acceptable level of sexual satisfaction.

In short, the procedure is harmless, and may be beneficial.

It's all the same to me, not to the human being you might be killing in the process if you suddenly decide you don't want to bring it into existence after all.

So jam on, lol, what do you think I care? The law is on your side, most of the time, as it is.

Allow me to point out your hypocrisy and potentially murderous behaviour all the same Wink

Once again, I'm against abortion as justified by "inconvenience" or a mere change of mind. If you are pregnant through no fault of your own, however, and/or it poses a significant risk to your health, then the earlier you terminate it the better.

I don't know how we would distinguish between such cases, however, nor do I have any say in the matter(not much, anyway). So stop acting like I do and learn to have a conversation without going all fucking hysterical on me.

I...what?

I disagree, despite the obvious emotional attachment you had in carrying that fetus for twenty-three weeks.

I am providing you with what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.

Being a fetus doesn't disqualify from being a person, unless that fetus is of a different species than human. "Fetus" is a stage of development, not a species. As infant, toddler, child, teen, adult and elderly are all stages of life and development, so is fetus. But anyway, I'm not wanting to turn this into an abortion thread. Point is, if the fact that my son is compromised of human dna doesn't convince you that he is a human (which is where science seems to go out the window), I'm sure you would change your mind about his humanity if I were to post a picture of him here.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Otherwise, she should've been more careful and knew the risks going in. Her not wanting to "inconvenience herself" or the child not becoming an orphan is not justification enough for us to murder our young like that. It just simply isn't and it makes me sick that anyone thinks it is.

Not your uterus, not your business. Period. End of sentence.

You can't have an opinion on abortion unless you have a uterus? Then why are there women posting in this thread?

Edit: Dumb post. Circumcision is an issue with consent, not a male/female thing. However, the idea that there can't be a debate about the personhood of a fetus unless everyone in the debate can be pregnant is asinine.
