A quick word on "Overwhelmingly Negative Influences"
RE: A quick word on "Overwhelmingly Negative Influences"
I've used the ignore feature a few times in the past but I don't any more. I just make do with mental ignore because they're ultimately the same thing... both require a mental commitment since in either case there are constant reminders of the person you're trying to ignore.

I don't see the nuke option being used here. I do understand why Drich is an abhorrent person, still not enough.

It pains me to see Rob going like this. He will be welcomed back, but we can't really go against a person unilateral decision.

Don't know why I have this particular person on ignore. He wasn't/isn't that important and only sneaked in about a dozen posts or so. But for some reason he made my blood boil like noone else does. When seeing something by him I wanted nothing but insult him. So, that's no base to counter anything and I decided to put him on ignore.

I'm really really curious about who that is now [emoji2]

To the staff, thank you for the great care you take to maintain the integrity of the forum and its purpose. I know from experience that it's not always easy and is an often thankless job to moderate.

I appreciate it and respect very much your decision-making processes.

I concur.  Being a leader is not easy; however, it is far too easy to be blind to the challenges of leadership and forget that leaders are people to.  My hats off to the time, patience, effort, and dedication shown by the staff in enacting AF's espoused values and maintaining a very cool and unique website.  Thank you.

I wouldn't so much call us leaders. Its more like we are regular members that have added responsability to keep the PH level of the place, liveable. We only give orders in respect to the rules and alot of times after some discussion between ourselves so that no one staff member can act on his own. Except for carpet cleaning sammers and ghe like.

You know, I could look up my profile to tell you who it is. But it's not worth the effort. Guy posted a fundamentally stupid thread and was gone when everyone disagreed. Came back a couple of months later to sneak in another load of mental diarrhea and was gone again. Hasn't been back ever since, far as I know.

Atheist, militant and ignorant obviously. That much I can tell from the few posts I have read and tried to reply to in a civilized manner.

I understand and appreciate the free speech thing, though at the same time I do feel bad for people who get ganged up on or bullied on here. I guess if it were my own forum I wouldn't ban people for doing those things, but I'd send them a PM just reminding them about treating fellow members with common human decency, despite what their opinions are. Not sure how well that would work without the threat of a ban, but I dunno.

But obviously it is not my forum, and I appreciate what Tibs and the rest of the mods do. Also, Tibs and Shell, I had no idea you guys spent $$ out of your own pockets for this site. Regardless of what my opinions are on this, I can truly appreciate that you guys stuck to what you believe in (free speech), even if that meant losing adds and having to pay for this site yourselves.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
