Don't believe the hype.......

Don't believe the hype.......
There is an old saying in news media, if it bleeds it leads. In the private sector even news media creates drama to get viewers attention. Trump unfortunately is the apex of irresponsible reporting. Legal yes, but moral, no.

If corporate media really reflected the concepts of journalistic neutrality, Trump should not even be close. Now here is the reality of 15 electoral map projections that have Hillary above 270. The same making it sound closer than it really was was done by media with both Obama's runs.

The truth is that yes, margins tighten regardless and always have. So the only real question is how much will she win by. She will not lose the popular vote but the electoral college. She will win both the popular vote and the electoral college. I really think also the hidden aspect to all this in the swing states will be all the women Trump has pissed off and while he wants everyone to think he might win, the numbers are simply not there. I think his camp and the GOP are going too look as stupid as Rove did on fucks news.

The only thing about all this that bothers me, isn't that Trump has a chance, but the closer the margin, the worse the tone in politics will become long term.

As much as I appreciate you posting this... The Trumpers will believe whatever they wish to believe. I'm sorry but I just cannot see how Trump even has a chance.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

I'm sanguine about the electoral outcome. Trump's path to victory is so unlikely at this point that a win would make the end of Rocky look like a documentary, by contrast.

But Brian's right. His loss will just be the beginning of a nightmarish shit storm that won't end until Clinton has ridden off in the sunset, if even then. I frankly dread where this is going.

Ok, I'll be naively optimistic: the Trump fiasco will motivate the Republicans to nominate a quite conservative but relatively sane candidate, maybe like McCain, for 2020 who will beat Hillary after her first term.

Huh? Not sure what you mean by this.

My point is that all this started decades ago. I really believe the GOP has been bitter since Nixon got caught and since that old white money has made politics a gang rather than governing. I also think his rise is decades of Morton Downy Jr, Jerry Springer "Real World" WWE mind rot crap. Add to that fucks news fear mongering which was going on long before even Obama ran the first time.

I am talking about a very dangerous tone in politics that neither party should employ, but only one party has been responsible for allowing to get to this point.

Just yesterday a Trump supporter shouted "execute her". That is the type of shit you see in North Korea and supporters of Hitler.

A sufficient amount of people not bothering to move their asses the voting booth. That's how. Radicals do vote at a larger percentage than moderates. And if the moderates are presented with an undesired choice, the chances of Trump winning are very real.

RE: Don't believe the hype.......
McCain was tanking in 2008 and desperately needed a shot in the arm. Hence Palin. Their vetting process obviously left something to be desired, but I'm sure that she must have appeared attractive on paper at a glance: a woman with executive government experience -- just the thing! We all no how that turned out.

And that's the thing with the GOP. They can nominate a relatively sane candidate (I think it's debatable whether McCain was one but will leave that aside), but they still have to figure out how to motivate the base of pissed off blue collar people they've courted for so long. There just aren't enough college-educated, relatively affluent, moderate Republicans out there for them to win at the national level anymore. That's how we get a Palin. That's how we end up with a Trump.

They need to figure out how to re-brand themselves to appeal to more women, Hispanic voters, black voters, the LGBT community, and (*gasp*) secular people who are uncomfortable with their years of pandering to the Christian right without alienating the white, working class people they worked so hard to cull from the Democrats. They've got more mileage out of reactively bashing the Democrats, come what may, than I had thought possible. But there must come a point when they can do better than simply be a party of "No" while regurgitating Reagan's talking points from 40 years ago.

We're on the same page. I know this started decades ago. I've railed on that very point time and again on these forums. But I think a Clinton win will usher in a period in which the rhetoric becomes even more heated than it has been to this point, and the political discourse will coarsen even more. Hell, I'm not even talking exclusively about 'tone'. I think we could be headed to a place in which blood is shed -- not a revolution or anything that dramatic, but seemingly random acts of self-appointed 'saviors' attacking their enemies for the alleged greater good. The Right in this country has more perceived enemies than you can shake a stick at. Meanwhile, they keep losing. It's only a matter of time. A frightened, wounded animal nearing its death throes is likely to lash out violently at the very people who are trying to help.

No. If Hillary is a one term president, it will be because of the same fucking obstructionism the GOP pulled with Obama. Even after his first election prior to even taking the oath, that NOVEMBER, the day after the 08 election, you had Bonehead and Turtleman saying they would make him a 1 term president.

The GOP tactic has been the same since Reagan started the era of trickle up economics. Create a needless problem then blame the other party for the problems you created. It is the same bullshit tactic you can see in the Daffy Duck cartoon where he pits the beagle against Foghorn selling boobie traps to both.
