Yeah, the "sometimes they're fine" line is a giveaway
In other words, yes, that's correct.

I'll be brave for once and say pose.

Just wanted to add:
5. If a riddle gets answered correctly, but that person neither passes or poses a new riddle, the default is a pass after a reasonable time (say, 4-6 hours)
I added it for you
Thank you, dear lady!
Could I trouble you to add this one as well? Pretty please?
6. If there are no responses after more than 24 hours, anyone can pose the next riddle.

Imagine you are in a dark room. How do you get out?

Some are very hard, some are quite easy and some of that depends on how familiar you are with the answer. The one posed by Jesster was relatively easy for me because I spend soooooo much time reading and writing. Once I plugged X into the fist line as the 24th letter of the alphabet, the rest just fell into place.
A good riddle is far more than just a joke. Many aren't even funny, or at least not intentionally. What they are, are logic puzzles. A good riddle always has a logical answer, sometimes more than one, especially for old riddles that use words whose meanings have shifted over time. I think they're one of the best tools ever for learning and sharpening logic skills.

I am off to bed. In case you missed my riddle:
