Honestly just looking for some humor. When I am talking about stupid Christians I am referring to the one's who are crazy. Like Westrbro Crazy.

All kidding aside, there really are persecuted Christians, but just not any in the west.

I think it is important to skip labels for a second and think of bigotry and oppression and majority/minority as geographical and era time frame. You would be part of a majority in one place, but move and be a minority in another, so it always depends.

There are also persecuted Muslims depending too. If you are a Sunni living under Shiites your life will be harder. If you are a Shiite living under a Sunni majority, same thing.

If you are a Kurdish Christian or Arab gay or Arab atheist life in many places in the east is going to be harder if not impossible to be open.

But no, if you are a Christian in Europe or America, and others are not putting up with your bullshit and you don't get everything you want all the time, that is not persecution.

So then everyone will know how stupid the people in these groups are, and how much smarter WE are! And, and, and... while we're at it, let's spell their title wrong too!! Wink

Consider this: Name a group that is stupid (or any other sort of adjective you would choose as a form of derision; for example, let's substitute 'deluded' here since no one is necessarily prohibited from recovering from being deluded) SOLELY BECAUSE OF THAT GROUP'S IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTIC.

For example, substitute any ethnic group there. You'd be labeled a bigot for making a racist statement. No one's genetic makeup has any bearing on their intellect. But someone's indoctrination-based religious beliefs? That knows no color barrier, no age limit, and yet still binds them all with one inescapable commonality: Delusion.

So thanks for revealing your inability to make a fine distinction about something of this sort. Yes, it's nuanced, but it's consistent and makes sense in this context. But then that's critical thinking, and well, we could make a blanket statement about that and religious belief too, so...
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Eh, watch Secular Talk on youtube, you'll see shit on there you wouldn't fucking believe, although you'll probably seldom know if you should laugh or not.

When the persecution is at the hands of an almost indistinguishable alternative faith, it can't really be taken seriously. Honestly, getting a taste of their own fucking medicine is probably the best thing that could happen to them, wake their asses up from how stupid the whole goddamned enterprise is.

Sounds like you are getting your persecution complex fired up right now. This is an atheist forum. Not really sure why you are here in the first place if this really bothers you.

Umm .. you're still new here but this forum is advertised as being a forum for people of all religions and no religion. It isn't a juvenile atheists only fort for dissing people with religious status different than your own. Nope, your ideas and hers must meet on a level playing field here, with neither of you enjoying the bias of the moderating team. Well .. there may be some bias in favor of C_L just because she has a longer history of being a straight shooter.

Westbro (Westboro I'm presuming) are JUST LIKE Methodist, and Catholics and Presbyterians and all the rest.

They are just cherry picking different bible verses than what you are used too.  They show remarkable impiety (just like all the other denominations) in regards to some Biblical injunctions, most notably in allowing women to instruct men in religious matters.  They seem soft on menstruation issues too, and that is a VERY mainline failing of modern era Christians.

So, feel free to lump Westboro in with all the others, there is no substantive difference.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Which one is being pompous? Block quoting makes it hard to tell and honestly I could go either way.

I certainly have had my fair share of stupid moments (IMO, fantastic ones) ; it is interesting to wonder how many people observed my stupid moments in specific contexts and then generalized them into a negative image of me in all contexts (how many people do this to each other?); thus, reinforcing whatever biases, beliefs, and stereotypes that they hold.  Perhaps resisting the tendency to broadly categorize groups of people based on one's particular experiences/via hearsay, is a strong mark of intelligence, as it is indicative of an open, thinking mind; IMO, it is certainly an important/intelligent skill to have in the realm of intercultural relations.
