I tried getting into the new season of South Park, but I'm having trouble. Maybe I just don't find it as funny as it used to be.

Hey Alpha, if you want to live in a country where law enforcement has free reign try North Korea.

The first 8 or so seasons were good but ever since then it's been better. One reason: Randy Marsh.

Quote:Data from U.S. Census reports reveal that between 1880 and 1960, married households consisting of two-parent homes were the most widespread form of African American family structures.[26] Although the most popular, married households decreased over this time period. Single-parent homes, on the other hand, remained relatively stable until 1960 when they rose dramatically.[26] A study of 1880 family structures in Philadelphia showed that three-fourths of black families were nuclear families, composed of two parents and children.[27]

In New York City in 1925, 85% of kin-related black households had two parents.[27] When Moynihan warned in his 1965 report on the coming destruction of the black family, however, the out-of-wedlock birthrate had increased to 25% among blacks.[25] This figure continued to rise over time and in 1991, 68% of black children were born outside of marriage.[28] U.S. Census data from 2010 reveal that more African American families consisted of single-parent mothers than married homes with both parents.[29] Most recently, in 2011 it was reported that 72% of black babies were born to unwed mothers.[24]

Are you saying that this slave metality somehow skipped a few generations, only to come back in the 1960s and then explode? Seems pretty far-fetched.
Looking at it, there are more factors than the simple historical. But I still stand by the fact that the reasons for the decline of the black family still is largely due to oppression, from poverty to disproportionately high rates of incarceration. Even that Wikipedia article you linked to focuses largely on the environmental factors behind it.

You can argue that blacks were oppressed more AFTER the civil rights movement than before all you want. It's pretty amusing.

As noted multiple times, Kaepernick made this about police shootings.

You admit that poverty and police shootings are completely separate.

Who's bad at this?

Gotta keep one eye on the forest...

As you don't see a connection between poverty and police shootings, we're in agreement. Thanks for the support!

I said unjustified police shootings.  Whether a police shooting is justified or not is a separate discussion from the one we're having about the relationship between crime and poverty.  Why are you being obtuse?

OK, what are the stats on unjustified police shootings by race? Got anything more than anecdotes?

Randy Marsh is the best character on SP.

Why is it always racist people who refer to black people as 'blacks'?

Hmm. I guess it's kind of like how homophobes refer to gay people as 'the gays'.

You are so racist. I bet you totally are. This fucked up agenda of trying to get people to prove that there is any unjustified police shootings by race (when any non-racist person would have been able to find AGES ago that there is tons and tons of evidence of racism in the police force on occasion (like there is racism EVERYWHERE amongst all groups of people INCLUDING the police, duh.)) , calling black people 'blacks'... ugh. You are such a racist-face. I'd be so surprised if I was wrong.
