My son is on the spectrum and hasn't once (that I know of) gone off the rails. If impulse control is the issue, that's one thing, and it can be improved. But being a cunt 'just because' is not acceptable.

I understand that, but autism is a spectrum. What may be a challenge to one person, may not be for another. 

Anyway, all I'm suggesting here is taking a more gentle/patient approach when talking to him about his inappropriate posts. That's all.

Actually whether you have autism or not, we all have things we are dealing with, bad days, personal struggles.   What you are saying is never bad advice.

The only thing we know about Hammy's diagnosis is what he told us. I don't know what to believe.

Does it really matter? Hammy is a good guy. He’s not perfect but none of us are. If his posts really bother you, put him on ignore.

Clarification about autism spectrum, if I may. It's a neurodevelopmental disorder, not a personality disorder or whatever. This means, just like we have varying personalities on the neurotypical spectrum, we have varying personality types on the autism spectrum. The spectrum itself isn't based on differences in personality, but on how high functioning the person on the spectrum is. This means you could have someone with autism who is utterly introverted and another who is full on extraverted. To tell if someone is on the autism, you have to observe that person in real life and see how they interact with people, observe their body language, note special interests, if they have sensory issues, etc. People with autism, just like neurotypical people, can and do often suffer from other problems (comorbid disorders they call them). Just throwing this out there because some people still don't understand what it really is.

Agree. And as I mentioned before being anywhere on the spectrum and being willingly nasty are not mutually exclusive and one shouldn't connect the dots...

If he wants to be treated as a normal person (which I do), then he (as Shell suggested) should own his actions...

Personally, I think it's just a case of garden variety fragile ego syndrome. no biggie.
