Please Explain to a Newly Inducted "Old Fart"

So I guess I've reached the age where I don't understand what "the kids" are talking about (at the ripe old number of 27, no less) and I'm currently breaking my brain on this.

Can some of the younger and/or more knowledgeable members of the forum explain what "scene" is? Why "scenepoints" even exist as A Thing? Why this is something only white people with first world problems would be interested in following? What makes a person part of a scene? What comprises "a scene"? I heard rockabilly was "a scene," and I love wearing neuvo-50's clothes (I look amazing in them) - do I run the risk of being assumed part of that scene because I wore something vintage with polka-dots and also have tattoos?

I want to know what separates them from any other portion of the human race who might like certain brands, colors or styles.

Please entertain me on my very very very boring Wednesday afternoon at the office.

Occasionally I have more aches than my mother, who is 25 years older than me. But that could be because I'm harder on my body than she is. So yeah, sometimes I "feel" old.

This shit makes my brain feel dead, though.

whilest metalhead and whilest punker, my friends and I use to call our group "szene", and we would call groups from other towns, that towns "szene".
szene translates into scene. but that was about 3 years ago, and I dont know about today.

"Scene" is a type of music/fashion style. It's kind of an intermediary between "Emo" and "Hipster".

This unifying factor in all this is that this style is perceived to be "cool" and "trendy".
