I've wished for gender indication just so I wouldn't refer to someone wrongly as him or her and cause offense. I'm not personally offended when someone refers to me by the wrong gender----I know I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy, but for the record, I am female. AND I've often wished for a"part of the world" indicator. Age? I ain't telling you my age. Or my birthday. Though in truth I HAVE said my age on here before. I wouldn't mind one of those age range things, like:
under 20
20 to 30
30 to 40
etc.
I disagree that looking on someone's profile is stalker-ish. These are things that should be there in the profile IMO if people wish to give that information. I frequently refer to people's profiles to see what part of the world they are in and to use the "find all posts" feature when they've said something recently here and remember who said it, but can't remember which thread they said it in. And of course, going to someone's profile is necessary if you want to send them a PM anyway. I think of the profiles as public information that people are willing to share.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?
