Volumes of nasty remarks and BS lead people to be skeptical of Drich's intentions.

Honest, genuine, and Drich don't even belong in the same sentence.

I understand, but sometimes people deserve another chance.

Sometimes, some people deserve.

But we are generous.  We’ve given him chances anyway by doing nothing to stop him from showing evidence of repentance.   The only thing we disallow is drich trying to redefine repentance to be something that buys time for drich to do the more of that for which drich is allegedly  repentant.

Maybe if he starts acting better the tide would turn instead of essentially saying that if people stop being 'mean' to him he will stop with the name calling and other crappy comments.  That's generally not how social interaction works.

I will pettily suggest that some people don't deserve another chance.

Basically a person who worked himself into a nearly bottomless pit of disrepute don’t get to dictate the terms of how other people would be allowed to interact with him, as if he had an infinite reservoir of stored favors to call in.

And it adds more to his disrepute when he acts obliviously as if everyone owed him favors to call.

Well, you're certainly petty, if nothing else, but you're not wrong. Not everyone does deserve a second chance.

I too am skeptical of someone's intentions in pleading for another chance at "honest conversation." How many opportunities has he/she had to be honest in the first place?

I remember a relationship I had where I begged for a second chance with her. She told me that if I really respected her I would've treated her right the first time around. i suppose she was right.

Luckily, I never got that second chance. I'm 26 and single. I like it that way. Maybe it's time for Drich to be single. Lol

Gae Bolga...it's there, Google it.

here you go..

It is on the third day that Ferdiad starts to gain the upper hand. At this point, Cúchulainn calls to his charioteer, Laeg, for the Gáe Bolga, which he floats down the river to him. Cúchulainn throws a light spear at Ferdiad's chest, causing him to raise his shield, and then picks up the Gáe Bolga between his toes and thrusts it through his anus upon which the barbs spread throughout his body, killing him. The Gáe Bolga is then removed from Ferdiad's body by Laeg, and Cúchulainn mourns Ferdiad's death, praising his strength and bravery:
"Ah, Ferdiad, betrayed to death.""Our last meeting, oh, how sad!""Thou to die I to remain.""Ever sad our long farewell!"[2][3]
Scholars believe that the fight between Cuchulainn and Ferdiad is a late addition to the Táin, originating not earlier than the eleventh century and drawing on earlier episodes in the story.[citation needed] Ferdiad means "man/warrior of the pair" (Diad related to dïas, "two persons").[citation needed] But can also be read as "Fear" (man) "dia" (god), as opposed to Cúchulainn's position as a literal god-man (being a demigod, his father the chief god Lugh).

Maybe I need to still connect the dots....
Ferdiad was the son of cuchulainn. Cuch was a god. ferd, wasa son of a god... the gae bologna was the spear who killed a son of a god.

Do you get it now?

Some douche want to be associated with God killing, but instead picks a name who spelling looks like a phonetic version of gay bologna

how about this..

Assume I did research his name maybe back when he first got it, because I do not like not knowing.

First, Irish is neither dead nor obscure.

Secondly, the name doesn't mean 'god killer'.  There are several translations (the most usual is 'belly spear'), but none of them come close to what you seem to think. (the closest thing I can think of to 'god killer' is dia dúnmharfóir).

Third and lastly, you are a liar without shame.  See arewethereyet's post.

Nothing about this represents modern day myths or story telling. why? because this again is a 12th century tome which has seen it's day and in only kept alive in discussions like this. so yeah like it or not it is dead.

Well, don't be surprised if people are skeptical of your intentions. People tend to believe what they want about you regardless of how honest and genuine you are.

this problem only seems to be isolated to one very small and dark corner of my life. even in other places like this where this specific group is not.. I do not have the trouble that I have here.

which would indicate it is a specific problem i have with a specific set of people and or how or what they think of me.

No I totally get it and I'm not saying you guys are wrong. Just thinking out loud here. I personally have very little patience to debate with any theists anymore. It's the same old tired arguments spun by the same old rhetoric.

You've got a lot of this wrong.  Firstly, Cu Chulainn and Ferdiad were foster brothers, not father and son. Cu Chulainn was the son of a god, Ferdiad was mortal. You explanation might actually work if Ferdiad had killed Cu Chulainn, not the other way round.

But none of this changes the fact that you go the meaning of the spear's name wrong.  You instead opted for a childish, homophobic reading of an Irish name as it appears in English. You're very stupid.

Clearly, this is something else you failed to research.  Over 300 primary and secondary schools in Ireland operate in Irish.  Irish courses are mandatory in every school in the Republic of Ireland. It is one of the 24 official languages of the EU. About 25% of the population in Ireland understands Irish in either written or spoken form. Irish language courses are offered at more than 53 universities internationally.  Most Irish newspapers have an Irish language section either daily or weekly.  Every radio and television station in Ireland includes Irish language programming.

Hardly dead or obscure.  Try to be less provincial.
