Pax et bonum from Italy and Quelo
Hi,
I have typed an introduction, but I have put a link on it. As I didn't see anything, reading your long rule list, I realized I can not past link before 30 post... Incredible...

The link is not any ads or whatsoever, just a wikipedia content, but it is necessary to explain who I am, and why I am here.

Anyway, hi everybody.

Welcome.

These rules are to protect not just the existing membership but legit new posters, too.

We have banned people who have signed up to advertise and spam the membership almost daily for the past couple of months. I think I personally banned seven in one day.

It may seem extreme but we gave been targeted several times with spam attacks.

Better to protect the members than to just let people post what they want. 30 days and 30 posts isn't too much to wait.

You get to know us and we get to know you directly.

Ok, I introduce myself without hiperlinks. I can live and  survive also without them...
_______________________________________________________

Good morning,

My name is Holubice, a middle aged man form Italy. Please excuse me for my next mistakes, here and forward, as English is not my mother tongue. I have never been a religious man, since I was about 10-11 years old, I have never been interested on Church, priests, Gospel, and whatever. I just didn't care at all, till I was 30 years old, as I had a N.D.E., eventually search in Google for...

"Near-death experience"

... to understand what I mean. This even has completely transformed my live, upside-down, since that day changed completely  my goals, my points of views and my beliefs. I have spent about 15 years to try to convert your colleagues (the Italians Atheist) with (honestly) poor results.

I'm also sure that the present Pandemia have to be named into Plague, because:
  • This virus does not kill babies
  • This virus does not kill the poor Black Men in the poorest countries of Africa
  • This virus does not kill the poor immigrants living in the richest West countries
  • This virus is killing those countries that have been egoist and ruthless towards refugees
  • Canada and United States have the same social and economical strength: why they have so few deaths in Canada, why it is a hecatomb in USA?
  • Germany and France have the same social and economical strength: why they have so few deaths  in Germany, why it is a hecatomb in France?
  • Sweden and Switzerland have the same social and economical strength: why they have so few deaths in Sweden, why it is a hecatomb in Switzerland?
I know those explanations may disappoint some of you, but that it is. I'm typing in different forums, so I may be late to respond you. That's all for now.

Welcome.
Why do you feel the need to try to convert?
What if we belong to other religions, do you still think that we should convert to yours?

Also, do you really believe that the coronavirus is no natural and not manmade but made by a god to punish those that you god sees fit?

Interesting!

Okay, most of this is far outside the scope of an introduction thread.

I'll answer most of the points raised as best I can, since I'm really tired right now and need sleep.

Background:

I was raised Catholic and was extremely devout in my younger years (get 'em when they're young), until I started asking questions that no one wanted to try to answer directly, throwing in such words as "faith" and "believe".

I finally declared myself an atheist at the age of 13, much to the disgust of my still very Catholic mother and her family.

A number of years later I had a really bad motorcycle accident (not my fault) and while the ambulance crew was in attendance, my heart stopped for nearly two minutes.

No NDE, no pleasant (or unpleasant) visions of an afterlife, or family. No heaven or hell.

Nothing.

Just darkness.

NDEs have a rational scientific explanation. An interesting feature of the reported NDEs are that the people who "experience" them always see what they're culturally inducted to see, even the atheists.

This is why you never have a Muslim "seeing" the Christian heaven or a Christian experiencing the Hindu afterlife.

Now the current pandemic...

Babies: citation needed.

Africa: It has killed people in Africa. It has yet to reach many places in Africa because travel into Africa ( and South America) isn't on tge same level as we see in the industrialised countries. Also, many countries went into lockdown before it could spread into parts of the world that are less travelled.

Poor immigrants: citation needed. I'm not going to accept a claim.

Refugee claim: If this was a punishment from a deity about the treatment of refugees, I wonder what kind of monster would target the elderly and vulnerable instead of the people who impliment said policies? It seems such a being is cruel, vindictive, and not worthy of my attention, let alone my devotion.

Other claims: It comes down to the response of the countries. Germany locked down fairly quickly. America, frankly, is full of idiots who think about themselves and not others (look at the idiots who went on spring break or insist on having huge church gatherings anyway).

NZ has had one death. Is that because they're a good little country who have the favour of this particular being (except that one person, of course) or because of the response of the government and health sector?

Finally, if your simple goal is to come here and try to convert us to your religion, I advise giving it up right now. We've heard all the arguments before.

Just ask our other religious people who are trying to convert us.

It won't work.

Nice that you admit to being a spammer up front.

Now, can I come to your home and teach evolution?
