White Jesus conundrum

White Jesus conundrum
Ok, this is not so much about Jesus specifically but rather about white people being born in Middle East 2000 years ago.

I mean you're all familiar with this notion, and I guess what best personifies what this topic is about is this meme

But would it really be so strange that a white baby/ man gets born in the Middle East at that time considering that there were lots of Roman soldiers in the Palestine at that time? They obviously had sex with local women, so I guess it wasn't that uncommon for white babies to pop out here and there.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

My Christian friend in college was upset at his liberal religious studies professor for suggesting that Mary really got raped by a Roman soldier.

Some (not all) of the earliest depictions of Jesus that can be made out show him more darkly completed than we’re used to. Bearded Jesus didn’t really show up until the 7th century, and Long Haired-Bearded-White Jesus is a Renaissance creation.

To be fair, this isn't an unprecedented idea; both the Talmud and Celsus claim that he was the product of an adulterous relationship between Mary and a Roman soldier named Pantera. Then again, given that Celsus was anti-Christian and, by the time the Talmud was finally written down, relations between Judaism and Christianity had gone down the toilet, and that there's no real corroborating evidence for this claim, it's likely not true, though, that said, it's as plausible an explanation as any.

For more plausible than a divine Y-chromoasome, but less plausible than "the whole lot of crap is just made up".

I was going to insert the relevant ‘Life of Brian’ scene here, but it’s a little TOO rape-y.

Isn't that a viewpoint of Jesus historicists that Mary is not actually a virgin? To them, it's just another of the many lies in the New Testament that they have to ignore to create historical Jesus.

So I guess if historicists were to make a case for white historical Jesus, then it is logical to presume that his dad was from Europe, and pretty much the only Europeans then and there were Roman soldiers.
