What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
recently developed technique that can measure how deeply buried rock strata had been in the past shows parts of the of Grand Canyon must be very ancient, and had been incised to nearly its current depth before the end of the age of dinosaurs.

This completely upended long established geological wisdom taught in every geology textbook that says the Grand Canyon is a young feature, at most a few million years old, that formed as the Colorado river cut into the Colorado plateau when the plateau rose.

Well, both of those positions are just silly. Informed people know that there are no geological features older than about 6000 years.

A 70 years’ long career, 64 films, 40 books, 111 television series, about 1000 television appearances, 2 Emmy awards, and a net worth significantly north of $100 million.

I think he’s allowed to hum a bit.

I've learned that there is such a thing as a cooking tweezer. I don't know what it's good for, I just know that it exists.

They’re essentially the same as cooking tongs. Minor design differences, but used the same way.

At one point during the making of Batman, network executives briefly considered chemically castrating Burt Ward because they got enough angry messages about boys checking out Robin's package. He took the pills for about three days before he figured out what happened and complained to the network. They went to their Plan B of filming him at different angles. Yes, their Plan A was chemical castration.

I’ve heard that, and I suspect Ward was making it up.

Also, chemical castration doesn’t reduce the size of a man’s wedding tackle.
