Does reading a lot of Wikipedia give people a wrong idea how science works?

The point is that labeling a place a gun-free zone makes it a soft target. A would-be shooter can be almost sure he won't get shot there.
arewethereyet Wrote:Also, many of these mass shooters pick places where the likelihood of being shot is extremely low - elementary schools, churches, long-distance sniper shoooting.
That probably also plays a role, but it doesn't explain why mass shootings are less common in schools where teachers are armed compared to schools where teachers aren't armed.

Aha, so, the only reason you are not a mass-shooter is because gun control makes it more difficult to get a gun?

How do you explain the fact that Switzerland, a country where the government gives a gun to every male at the age between 18 and 65, doesn't have a lot of mass shootings?

How do you explain the fact that most mass shootings happen in gun-free zones?

I'm not a mass shooter because I feel no need to commit an atrocity. You really need that pointed out to you?!?

Switzerland does not hand out guns like candy on Halloween.
Check your facts.
While Switzerland does have a high percentage of gun ownership, they also have more common sense regulation than the US and, apparently, much less "gun nut" culture. They also don't appear to be a nation spiralling into fascism.
Quote:Applications to carry a weapon are only granted if the person can prove that a weapon must be carried as well as if they pass an exam on how to use weapons.

Shooters here selectively choose places where return fire isn't likely, or will be delayed. They're fucking cowards.

You seem to be ignorant and mis-informed at every imaginable level. Fucking educate yourself...

As we've seen, your opinions are rarely fact adjacent, let alone based on actual facts. Dodgy

If that's not true, why it is that school shootings are far more common in California than in Texas (California being the state with the highest number of school shootings)? In Texas, teachers are usually armed. In California, teachers are almost never armed.

Boru

Vukovar Massacre was committed by an illegal army, which probably didn't include many professional soldiers (though I haven't checked that). We don't know who committed the Varivode Massacre, but they probably weren't professional soldiers either.

Vukovar was committed by the YPA along with government backed Serb paramilitaries. Hard to see these as not being professional soldiers.

We know EXACTLY who committed Varivode - Croatian soldiers and Croatian cops.

School teachers in Texas are not ‘usually armed’. There are 1200 school districts in Texas only a quarter of those districts have armed staff. And, since which schools have armed staff is kept secret, it’s extremely unlikely that this is a deterrent (the psycho who shot up the school in Uvalde last year had no way of knowing if staff were armed).

Please do show us some examples of good guys with guns actually stopping the bad ones. It shouldn't be hard, since anyone stopping a shooter would be hailed as a hero, especially in the crazy US gun nut culture.

Your trying to use common sense, which you've shown yourself to be completely lacking, and anecdotes to support your "arguments," once again proving yourself completely unwilling to actually educate yourself.

Color me completely unsurprised. Dodgy

Know a lot about Texas teachers, do you?

I live in Texas and have for nearly two decades.  While many teachers may own guns, that doesn't mean they are carrying in school.

Oh look, it's a dragon spitting sesame seeds at people.  I hate when that happens but it happens in Texas all the time.

Funny how some asshole thousands of miles away, who can't get through high school, er... university, yeah, that's it, without cheating his ass off is an expert on gun culture, especially as it applies to Switzerland and the US. Hehe
