Actually they are and if even if they weren't there is a reason they are both illegal now (Because they were equally wrong)

Quote:"Some Christians held slaves despite 2000 years of condemnation from the church, therefor Christianity was pro-slavery."
Actions speak louder then words on what ideology stands for and this is especially condemning when they cite the bible as a justification for their actions.

Quote:"Some atheists, in the *explicit name of atheism,* went on 5-year plans of mass genocide against religious individuals; therefor all atheists support mass genocide."
There is no such thing as "In the name of atheism"  because atheism not an ideology and therefore cannot compel anyone to do anything you can't kill anyone in the name of atheism any action of an Atheist are purely their own actions as they are not following any form of ideological ethics and thus can only judge as themselves. Christians can by contrast be judged by the actions of their ideology and religion and it's organizations conduct.

Quote:
Thank god neither Christians nor atheists are as monolithic as you are pretending.
Nope Christians can be judged by the actions of their ideology and religion and it's organizations conduct . Atheism cannot.

Sorry, judging you anyways.

So when the Soviet Union was in the process of slaughtering priests and monks, destroying churches, and pushing "State Atheism" in schools with the explicit goal of reducing the religious population and creating a new, educated atheist society had nothing to do with atheism?

They objectively and categorically aren't, and calling people delusional for ignorance over political terminology and historical reality is dull.

They objectively and categorically are, thumby, and I’ll stop calling you ‘delusional’ when you stop being deluded. Don’t hold your breath.

Was afraid of this.

Welp, on ignore you go as well - I was hoping you could at least be rational on non-political topics, but here we fucking are...

A serf was granted certain rights and freedoms a slave is not; a serf is also not viewed as property of an individual but rather tied to the land, making them at a fundamental level *not* a slave.

If you cant even agree to use the English language without insisting that you hold sole-exclusive rite to dictate it's meanings - as I have seen multiple times now on this forum - then there is no purpose in communicating.

Nope because in no way shape or form was conduct compelled by atheism you can't get from  "I don't accept the existence of god " to "therefore I should kill all the  priests and monks and destroy churches" Furthermore there is no such thing as State Atheism that's simply state Anti-theism those aren't the same thing.

In other word the same thing with meaningless semantics thrown in to try desperately to make one sound less awful then the other even though they were horrific systems of brutal oppression

It's not "some" Christians but religious orders and clergy who had slaves.

TheWhiteMarten Wrote:A serf was granted certain rights and freedoms a slave is not; a serf is also not viewed as property of an individual but rather tied to the land, making them at a fundamental level *not* a slave.

Serfs were very oppressed people who constantly rebelled against the aristocrats, and when Martin Luther came up with Protestantism, they finally hoped for a break in oppression to come from the Church claiming that Jesus is on their side, only to be denounced by theologians who told them that the only mercy they'll get is when they died. After which something like 100 thousands of serfs were slaughtered.

And that is the only "freedom" that Christianity offered to slaves: when they died they will be free in heaven living with god, but till then they had to obey their owners and turn the other cheek when getting beaten.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
