The Need to Breed

Population growth may slow, it may not, but at this point it will never go in reverse without a massive disaster/war/pandemic. You're kidding yourself if you think that our population isn't directly related to global warming, and lets not forget about water shortages currently all over the globe. I'll see if I can find that article from National Geographic, one moment please.

No, I don't think overpopulation exists, so I don't blame "it" for anything, not food shortages, not the lack of clean water, and not climate change either.

Thats fine. You want to believe that the globe is perfectly fine because of a poorly researched and completely biased video, thats certainly your right. Doesn't change the facts.

Quote:Bad as the air can be, lack of clean fresh water presents an even graver threat. Two-thirds of major cities are now seriously short of it, and as many as 700 million people drink water contaminated with human and animal waste at levels that don't come close to the government's minimum standards (also below those of WHO).

Quote: If the economy keeps roaring along, within three decades China could overtake the U.S. as the world's largest source of greenhouse gases, associated with global warming.

Growing populations do matter and China's problems are just the tip of the iceberg (so to speak). Undecided

Wait, did he really just write "we're going extinct?"

Well, that sells me. I'm getting my tubes tied.

To be fair, I don't blame overpopulation for any of our current problems. I blame ignorance, laziness and violence.

RE: The Need to Breed
as Jared Ball put it
http://blackagendareport.com/?q=content/...lation-lie
Quote:"The nonsensical and racist theory that food and other resources are threatened by overpopulation is a white supremacist lie."

here's another "source"......

Quote:"Big industry constantly requires a reserve army of unemployed workers for times of overproduction. The main purpose of the bourgeois in relation to the worker is, of course, to have the commodity labour as cheaply as possible, which is only possible when the supply of this commodity is as large as possible in relation to the demand for it, i.e., when the overpopulation is the greatest.

Overpopulation is therefore in the interest of the bourgeoisie, and it gives the workers good advice which it knows to be impossible to carry out. Since capital only increases when it employs workers, the increase of capital involves an increase of the proletariat, and, as we have seen, according to the nature of the relation of capital and labour, the increase of the proletariat must proceed relatively even faster."

fuck you shell b......

here's CNN if it makes you feel good about yourself

Quote:"Nothing ever continues at its present rate, neither the stock market nor population growth," said Doug Allen, the dean of the school of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an expert in the history of cities and urban design, which he's taught for more than 31 years.

"There is a substantial body of evidence that the world population will flatten out in about 30 years," he said. "Built into that model would be an assumption that more of the world's population will become urban, and as such the population will begin to decline."

Citing historical evidence of falling birthrates in urban populations, Allen looks to Italy as a current example of the phenomenon.

No one said population growth doesn't decline. It goes up and down ... but that's a far damn cry from it going backwards, let alone saying that "we're going extinct." It's a well known fact that we're growing at a rate of 1 billion people per 12 to 15 years. There's no way to get around that fact.

The current evidence tells us that the world is already over-populated and it is going to get worse. So are the shortages we are already experiencing. Also, your information is just a guess with a couple of assumed factors. It's hard evidence of nothing, from only one wishful thinking individual whose listed credential is only that he is some dean of the school of architecture at a university in Georgia. architecture makes you an expert on the effects of world-wide over population???
