I'm not too sure if the historical Darwin would have appreciated having his image right next to the word atheist though. All he really did was reject Christianity in later life because he disagreed with the doctrine of hell. If you read the Origin of Species he used the word God quite a lot in there.

I see a celestial Darwin has put in an appearance
|
He's being presented as an old man with a beard up in the sky.
Where are the snake and mushroom smilies?
And can we have Einstein on Einstein`s birthday? aswell as Schrödinger and others?
Einstein would have had a fit as he didn't want to be associated with any religious belief or stance. He believed in some kind of order of the universe though not a personal God. I have no idea about Schrödinger.

But interestingly Schrodinger had a deep connection to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Eastern philosophy in general. Erwin studied numerous books on Eastern thought as well as the Hindu scriptures. He was enthralled with Vedanta thought and connected ideas of oneness and unity of mind with his research on quantum physics, specifically wave mechanics." Erwin Schrödinger Quotes Quote:Nirvana is a state of pure blissful knowledge... It has nothing to do with the individual. The ego or its separation is an illusion. Indeed in a certain sense two "I"'s are identical namely when one disregards all special contents — their Karma. The goal of man is to preserve his Karma and to develop it further... when man dies his Karma lives and creates for itself another carrier. Where are the snake and mushroom smilies?
Being a reader of James Joyce, and my favorite novel being Ulysses, I can already tell you that I will be annoying you all on the 16th of June.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

It's better to have Heisenberg. We'll know he's there as long as we don't try to see how fast he's going. Where are the snake and mushroom smilies?

I'm sure he'd appreciate that people celebrated his accomplishments, regardless of who they are or what they believe. The sign doesn't say he was an atheist does it? He's a bit too dead to be giving a crap where his face is. People have done things with his image that might bug him a lot more. |
