Quite a shame how people respond
RE: Quite a shame how people respond

Why is it relevant how many posts you've made?

But this is actually why I left AF.com; atheists couldn't play nice and it wasn't fun watching. People have the right to be offended - and I agree with that statement, but if your post is meant for nothing but to offend, then that's a problem. The posts that just boil down to just "you are so stupid" don't serve a purpose. Tell them why they're stupid, stupid.

Aww, still mad that I said people should try to educate themselves a little more before acting like they own the place?

Or are you feeling your hackles raise because you're taking something I said personally?

Like I said, you snipped something I said out of context. I bet if you go back and read my handful of posts about all this again - all the way through without stopping at something that made you pout, you'd see that in fact I do know how forums function.

Because I've been here for enough time and participated for enough posts for "experience" to have seeped in.

Actually, I agree exactly with that thesummerqueen, people indeed should educate themselves a little more, that's why I told you to educate yourself remember? And you're the one that got worked up about that... Thinking unfortunately you're a poster child for those who fail to educate themselves.

Judging by your posts, it's quite clear your contributions aren't exactly worthy of being read though, you spend quite a bit of time complaining about other forum users (such as in the first page of this thread), I'm not exactly sure what experience if you've gained...?

I'm not worked up,sugar. I'm laughing at someone who's displaying exactly the behavior I described whilst trying to pretend something about me that isn't true.

I disagree; ideologue, too, apparently.

He's telling you why discussions on a discussion board should (and/or do) go a certain way. You respond with "I have more posts than you." Do you even lift?

Erm, no, he's telling me I don't know how forums go. I made a point to say, with an example, that I've been here long enough to have some idea.

His problem is that I said "do work" - something many of us repeat to many people every day on this forum. I bet if I looked up Rhythm alone, there'd be a slew of examples of him telling people that. Not because I am discouraging discussion, but because for us to have meaningful discussion without getting tired of having to repeat ourselves, people asking the question should do a modicum of work on their side to make sure the question hasn't already been answered...especially when they frame it in such a way as "Take THAT, atheists!!" It was framed in the context of why we would get irritated at theists coming in and asking or saying the same fucking thing over and over again, usually with a tone of mockery or arrogance, and 'wondering' why our hackles get up.

And then there are the nice people who come in and simply want to have discussion and frame their posts in such a manner. Don't have a problem with that. This is a discussion board. I didn't say they *have* to go any particular way. My post merely described why we get angry and what could be done to solve it. Don't want to do it? Pay the price. Do work, get nice discussion. Don't do work, get abuse. That's how THIS forum goes, whether you like it or not.

Actually, I'm only interested in the swearing. I don't care a whit about atheism or religion or evidence or logic. I come here because it gives me a chance to swear like a motherfucker without drawing attention to myself.

True story.

Clearly you haven't read much.

-or you could politely tell them why they're wrong and that's that. Why should they go anywhere else to have their argument defeated when it can happen here? This is what a discussion forum is for; to discuss.

I'm aware of how this forum functions, by the way. I'm voicing that it should be different, is all.

Most people do, if the question/discussion is framed politely to begin with. No one mentions that. Ever notice that no one abuses Rayaan? No one abused Tackattack either.

As I stated, and probably didn't link to but definitely gave the thread title of, I used to feel the same way. But then I realized how other people were feeling, through experience, and my posts were designed to give a little insight into that. I'm not saying you HAVE to agree. I'm just giving you another perspective.
