Are you suggesting that concerned atheists are hypocrites if they don't sell all that they have and give it to the poor? I thought Christians had cornered the market on that particular brand of hypocrisy, what with the prosperity gospel. And remember that particular command is in their Holy Book, one of the parts to which they give unanimous consent.

What do we have to do with your fucking god?

Meanwhile, this bunch, disagrees with you.

In fact, he spends considerable time choking his chicken without ever mentioning why this all-loving god of yours is such a miserable prick.

BTW, these fuckheads are xtians...just like you.

Wow all that schooling and real life experience and you can only come to two conclusions about those who believe in the bible...

What of those who simply believe what the bible says about itself? You went to semenary, surely in all of your studies you must have uncovered the truth about inerrency... The bible does not claim inerrancy. the doctrine of inerrancy is based off of 2tim 3:16&17 and 2 Pet 1:20&21. The long and short of it is the bible is the Inspired word of God and useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. and Pete said that all prophesy was given by the Holy Spirit and not by the words of man. Somehow these two seperate concepts had a baby in your mind and you locked your beliefs into a doctrine of inerrency even though these are two totally seperate statements orginated from two completely different people, so when you found what you thought to be an error it was over for you.

Again, What about those who simply believe as the bible teaches? That we are only responsiable for what we have been given over to understand. (Simple parable of the talents here preach) if god gives you the KJV then that is what you are responsiable for. If you been given the vulgate and if you can square all the extra crap in your mind, then again that is what you have been given and are expected to be responsiable to...

There is no one denomination that hold the singular key to salvation. Christ said He is the way the truth and the life, that no man comes through to the Father but by Him. Not that no man comes to the father but by a specific version of the bible, or by s specific version of a certain christian doctrine. No Christ is to judge us on our ablity to invest and turn over the 'talents' He has entrusted us with. That is why in Mat 7 christ dismissed some of those who claim to have followed Him and reinforced that He would judged who is and is not 'Christian.'

If the bible is not inerrant, how do you determine what is true and what is in error?

I should be more honest.

Would I give up free will just to save a kid in Ethipoia? No. I'm no saint. Would I give it up to keep a schoolkid from getting shot? Yeah, I might.

Besides, I don't believe that there is any kind of God that grants "free will." If an omnipotent, omniscient god existed, free will is impossible. I've discussed this many times.

Now what's all this about you Christians now saying that the Bible isn't perfect and that God isn't all-loving? You guys are totally changing your tune. Until this thread all I've read is how we should believe in the word of God and that God's word is perfect.

WTF? You guys have no consistency.

We're not under any holy command to give to the needy, nor do we have an omnipotent buddy capable of solving all these problems in a split second.

You claim both of these, so what's your excuse?

All things considered, that's probably the most appropriate way to spell it.

That seems like a quibble, though. The Bible does not state that it is inerrant, but should it have to? Are we to assume that without that guarantee, that god's one and only holy book isn't perfect? Can't he do anything right?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
